That's pretty funny. Hadn't seen any sort of online campaign for that but I'm sure if it's getting picked up on news sites it's only going to get worse.

As the stand off continues, the mother of the militia's leader emailed the groups supporters asking them to send supplies.

    ~~
On Saturday, Ammon Bundy's mother, Carol Bundy, sent an email to supporters asking them to send her son's group supplies from a list of more than 80 items, including sleeping bags, wool socks, cigarettes, toiletries, food, coffee and "French Vanilla Creamer."
    ~~

No word yet on how they expect this stuff to get through to them with the US Gov't unlikely to allow mail and with road access shut down.

Also of note, Ammon Bundy has said the group will leave when there is a plan to transfer control of federal land to locals. So it seems they are moving from the Hammond's release and focusing instead on the land.

Also Saturday a separate group of armed men arrived but left several hours later after occupation leaders told them they weren't needed.

The Pacific Patriot Network showed up Saturday in a convoy of about 18 vehicles, carrying rifles and handguns and dressed in military attire and bulletproof vests. They said they were there to help with security. They departed the refuge area after LaVoy Finicum said the network's help was appreciated, but "we want the long guns put away."

While writing this am listening to "Heroes" by David Bowie who just passed...sigh.

Another irony...I recently saw the movie "The Revenant" (pretty good) which was about settling the west. Bundy and his mother should watch it. These people really think that it's business as usual and UPS shall deliver..

How did the new set of "patriots" (who designated them such I wonder) get through to the site? The Feds are playing a curious game....thought they would have cut off access to the refuge. I saw some pics of some of the arms they were toting....looked pretty sohisticated/robust/automatic/with scopes...do they have a license to carry such shit and for what purpose (their jobs?).

Seems they didnt get along with Bundy and his clan...maybe they couldnt agree on their cut of the shakedown...which is what this is...a relinquishment of fed lands to local authority and land owners effectively giving them defacto ownership of valuable grazing acreage with no controls on the environment/wildlife which was the intent of the original legislation over a hunderd years ago...by a Republican president no less.

    Is this making sense?

I wonder if that is why it was the county sheriff to meet with them instead of the FBI (who are on the scene). Keep it lower levels until necessary.
They should have sent in a life insurance sales rep because these guys are either coming out and going to jail peacefully or they're coming out in body bags. Who knows, maybe they're not crazy assholes and are in fact just a bunch of gun loving morons that don't realize what the next play in the book is. Either way, the correct move is guns down and:

I mean even by the miracle that they "win", as soon as they come out they're gonna be taken down, rounded up and tossed in jail indefinitely; branded as domestic terrorists. Under the US's anti terrorism laws they aren't even to be granted a civilian trial.

Or a cast member from the Police Academy movies. Steve Guttenberg is likely available, although his status as a stone cutter might make him too important.

"To make sure our laws are enforced" not "make up my own laws".

One way to look at it is that the gun lobby owns congress. Another way is that congress is protecting the constitution. Guess it depends what side you're on. And that applies to all special interest groups.

Just because Obama wants something doesn't mean congress has to do it. Congress and senate are both republican majorities. They represent the people, they aren't there to execute obamas will.
I am afraid that is either a misreading of the meaning of an executive order or misunderstanding what Pres. Obama has done here (and previous occasions with other executive orders).

I shall also observe that the mute button is turned on when a Republican president sets forth their executive orders. No breaking the laws there.

United States presidents issue executive orders to help officers and agencies of the executive branch manage the operations within the federal government itself. Executive orders have the full force of law when they take authority from a legislative power which grants its power directly to the Executive by the Constitution,

    From Wiki.
Presidents since George Washington have used this mechanism. Some for small matters others for very large ones like Lincoln on the matter of "emancipation".

Obama is doing nothing other than tightening up execution guidelines of existing law/s.

Just because he has announced these orders does not make it "illegal". What would, would be if they went beyond the meaning and intent of the law. And this cannot be determined by the opposition political class but only by the courts. The courts are the only body constitutionally (I believe) who can pass judgement on illegality and matters such as this typically get adjudicated at the supreme court level.

And the visceral hate for anything Obama says or does shows again.

Trump is good at saying what whoever he's speaking to wants to hear.

I don't think a President should be directly involved with something like this. These guys are looking for validation and there's no bigger validation of their "power" than for the most powerful man on earth to stop what he's doing and have a chat with them. It makes the government look weak and incompetent and it makes the crazies with guns look strong.
