Wild stuff. Match made in heaven really. Should get people feeling optimistic again about the Suicide Squad franchise:
Where do I sign up! James Gunn Boards ‘Suicide Squad 2’ To Write And Possibly Direct – Deadline https://t.co/OwdDbAm1Ks

Wonder what sort of heat, if any, WB takes for this after Marvel fired him.

Excuses if this has been mentioned/reviewed before here ... saw "Annihilation" over the weekend w/Natalie Portman & Oscar Isaac. It wasn't too bad but I am not a big sci-fi movie buff ... this one held attention. The director Garland also made Ex Machina and that was of course a great one. Worth the time I think.

I think the general consensus is support for James Gunn. The guy is a talented director and writer and got punished for making a couple bad jokes on Twitter a long time ago. Marvel should have eaten their words and just rehired him and apologized for going too far.
Anyways, I’m not really a fan of suicide squad to begin with but I’m sure Gunn will do a good job because the biggest flaw with the last one was the script and we all know Gunn is a really good writer. I wonder how they’ll handle the original cast.
Not my first choice of a Stephen King remake, but hey ... looks interesting, if not for it looking exactly like the original...
Stephen King is really cashing in these last couple years (as well he should).
Hollywood stopped being creative a decade or so ago. Can't wait for the remakes of ET, Jaws, and Titanic.
So I finally got around to watching Infinity War....

Yeah, I don't see that side of it ending anytime soon.
We're well-past peak hollywood faux art-house. (2000s were so good with Kaufman, Tarantino, P. Anderson & and W. Anderson, the Coen Bros, and all the rest getting big budgets). I blame Asians' love of giant monsters, not that there's anything wrong with that.
But you can't keep a good art form down. You just have to dig a little deeper.
And thank goodness The Revenant didn't tank. That would not have helped. Tarantino keeps doing his thing and PT Anderson doesn't need that big a budget and Wes Andeson keeps on doing his thing.
Finally, if you didn't see it...
So, things really aren't that bad in Hollywood...t's just that the good stuff gets dwarfed and underfinanced and underwatched (damn you golden age of television). And if you want to go true 'indie' that's waiting for you too:

Did none of you watch Venom? It was actually pretty good, the critic reviews are bogus. Tom Hardy was amazing as Eddie Brock
Saw Halloween last night. I didn’t think it was very good. Maybe a 6/10. Some good kills.

RIP Stan Lee
Oh god, the nostalgia ...
Finally got around to watching “Okja” on Netflix. Made by Bong Joon-ho, the guy who made snowpiercer (which is incredibly by the way). It was a beautiful film. Performances were great all around, and I particularly liked Jake Gyllenhaal, he was hilarious. Highly recommended!
