The only problem I have is calling Casey a defensive coach without any results. Its hard to watch the offense if they arent terrific defensively. Mark Jackson turned GSW, a team with Curry and Lee and without Bogut into an elite defensive team. Rivers fixed the Clippers defense without sacrificing offense. Casey's job shouldn't be considered anything close to safe.
My thing is I just don't understand how going to 30th in the league defensively to 9th or 10th is not showing huge results. Just because we aren't top 5? Like I don't get it

Casey doesnt hate tyler. Hes clearly worse than patterson and amir so he cant really play at the 4 and hes undersized at the 5. The other team always exploited his lack of size. Chuck on the other hand, can stop the big guys like jefferson. Tyler cant
Yea but how many guys are there in the league like Jefferson. He is a rare breed. I understand playing Hayes against guys like Jefferson or Brook Lopez because his strength is guarding those kind of guys but to me any other matchup it should have been Tyler. Why would you continue to play Hayes if he's pretty much bad at everything else. Since Hayes is a specialist he should only get playing time on special occasions. I think hansbrough can handle the rest but for some reason Casey didn't see it that way.

I think chuck really only played in those specialist moments. I remember seeing a lot of Amir Patterson front courts last year. Whatever minutes Jv sat, either Patterson or Amir came in.

Yea I'm over it. Pretty much in his eyes if we aren't top 5 we are shit. Yes Casey is a defensive coach but he can only do so much. To expect a team that starts 2 sophomores, has Demar, Vasquez and Hayes getting a good bit a minutes to be a top 5 defensive team is a little much. Also you have to give him credit for the offensive too. Casey is a pretty bad offensive coach and he had up in the top 10. That's big. raptors999 has to be a troll because he is just making no sense.

              You're starting to annoy me.

The Warriors were 14th in defense in 2012-13. Bogut missed 50 games and they had no Iguodala.

The Warriors were 4th in defense in 2013-14. Bogut missed just 15 games and Iguodala was added to the team.

But yeah I'm sure the jump had NOTHING to do with adding two all-NBA caliber defenders to the starting 5. Give me a break.
Both Iggy and Bogut were injured for large parts of the season and they were an elite defensive team. They moved from 102.6 in 2012 to 99.9 under Jackson. Defensive coaches impact teams defenses, Casey hasn't really done anything. Toronto was 102.4 in Casey's third season. If Casey can push Toronto under 100 great but I doubt it, it usually doesn't take 4 seasons.

I think when he first got here he only played occasionally but as the season went on he definitely got more and more minutes. The thing is Chuck is so bad that even if he gets only 6-10 mins a game it feels like too much because he can't do anything well. When he is on the court it is constantly 4 on 5 and he makes it very difficult for the guards which then hurts our offense big time. If Chuck is setting screens in the pick and roll the defense can just trap our guards because no one is afraid of leaving Chuck wide open. He constantly misses wide open layups, like it's beyond frustrating to watch. I thought Aaron Gray was bad when it came to missing easy layups but Hayes is much worse.

Do we have an anchor like Bogut? Do we have arguably the best wing defender in the league in Iguodala?

Okay Jackson did a good job. I just don't understand how that makes Casey shit or means Casey did nothing. Just because Jackson might have done a better job than him doesn't mean Casey is bad or did nothing, it just means Jackson was better. The joke is Jackson is unemployed while Casey is still coaching a good eastern conference team in the NBA.

Can't argue with you there, I completely agree. And he hits one foot runner from the near the threepoint line pretty efficiently haha

LOL that was amazing. But I'm trying to come to terms with Hayes getting about 5-10 minutes a game unless Masai gets another center. Bebe isn't quite ready yet and if Tyler is still on the team he won't get playing time so yea.

Naw, it's actually spelt Dwane. I know it's weird, I think his parents messed up or something, that's the weirdest spelling.

Hands plays best as an energy big, short burst and limited. Hayes guarding low-post players is effective. Both Hands and Hayes are specialists. Bebe would be better against PnR offenses and replacing Amir than either.
Hayes is great as a veteran presence on the floor. During the Nets series, you can see him talking on defense and directing Jonas a lot. And he's good at resisting and holding position against traditional post players.

The big problem with Hayes is that there are less and less traditional big men in the league. That and he's simply too damn short. There are numerous times I remember seeing him defend a play in the post really well, force a missed shot, but have a rebound just snatched away from him despite being in position to grab it.

This might sound ludicrous, but all we need is a Rasho-like journeyman, or the version of Hayes that is 4 or 5 inches taller.
