The other team always exploited his lack of size. Chuck on the other hand, can stop the big guys like jefferson. Tyler cantI relish negativity and disappointment. It is not healthy. GLF wrote: View PostYea but how many guys are there in the league like Jefferson. He is a rare breed. I understand playing Hayes against guys like Jefferson or Brook Lopez because his strength is guarding those kind of guys but to me any other matchup it should have been Tyler. Why would you continue to play Hayes if he's pretty much bad at everything else. Since Hayes is a specialist he should only get playing time on special occasions. I think hansbrough can handle the rest but for some reason Casey didn't see it that way.I'm back. I no longer worship joe johnson

The Warriors were 14th in defense in 2012-13. Bogut missed 50 games and they had no Iguodala.
The Warriors were 4th in defense in 2013-14. Bogut missed just 15 games and Iguodala was added to the team.
But yeah I'm sure the jump had NOTHING to do with adding two all-NBA caliber defenders to the starting 5. Give me a break.

Defensive coaches impact teams defenses, Casey hasn't really done anything. Toronto was 102.4 in Casey's third season. If Casey can push Toronto under 100 great but I doubt it, it usually doesn't take 4 seasons.

GLF wrote: View PostI think when he first got here he only played occasionally but as the season went on he definitely got more and more minutes. The thing is Chuck is so bad that even if he gets only 6-10 mins a game it feels like too much because he can't do anything well. When he is on the court it is constantly 4 on 5 and he makes it very difficult for the guards which then hurts our offense big time. If Chuck is setting screens in the pick and roll the defense can just trap our guards because no one is afraid of leaving Chuck wide open. He constantly misses wide open layups, like it's beyond frustrating to watch. I thought Aaron Gray was bad when it came to missing easy layups but Hayes is much worse.I'm back. raptors999 wrote: View PostHands plays best as an energy big, short burst and limited. Hayes guarding low-post players is effective. Both Hands and Hayes are specialists. Bebe would be better against PnR offenses and replacing Amir than either.
The big problem with Hayes is that there are less and less traditional big men in the league. That and he's simply too damn short. There are numerous times I remember seeing him defend a play in the post really well, force a missed shot, but have a rebound just snatched away from him despite being in position to grab it.
This might sound ludicrous, but all we need is a Rasho-like journeyman, or the version of Hayes that is 4 or 5 inches taller.
