Vince can still shoot the 3, and has a fairly high IQ and doesn't get rattle easily. Remember Vince did help Dallas a few years back in game 7 with a 3 pointer clutch shot.Only one thing matters: We The Champs.

Think of old Vince the same way Old Del Curry helped the Raptors in their playoffs, still useful.Last edited by Hotshot; Tue Feb 20, 2018, 01:36 AM.

Vince is not good anymore, and would lower our ceiling. Yet because of his history particularly with this franchise, his pedigree and nostalgia would lead to demands for him to play when it is irrational.
There is no real reason to believe that Vince Carter is any better than Gerald Henderson or Nando de Colo and would give us more. But he's a way sexier name and this fan base craves approval from him and the media attention that it brings so they pine after him.

If Wright or FVV struggle then its next man up, too bad. Frankly I think the two PG lineup is only good for certain matchups and disaster in others, so a good mix & match to throw off your opponant will be a blessing.
Its up to coach Casey to decide when or if to use Vince. Vince is not the Vince of old but he can still produce in limited minutes and his veteran leadership and experience will be an asset.

The nostalgia and feel good story is great for the fans but is ultimately secondary. There are other reasons to add him.

So, set that logic aside, and take it as given that they want to add someone to the team, that they want some depth either alongside or behind the current bench guys, and circle back to find a different reason not to sign Vince.

They can sign him to a 1-day contract when he wants to retire and he can fly in and have a big presser if he wants. Fantastic. I really couldn't care less one way or the other but I am not a big fan of adding him at this point (assuming it's even an option).
