This is why billionaires shouldn't run. Or at least divest properly before campaign.

I think it's more about the means candidates can viably run. It requires tonnes of money. Trump serves his interests, anyone in his camp and then the people's. Players who are funded by others are serving those people first, then their own interests, then the people's.

The problem is the money it takes to legitimately run. If they put a very low hard cap on that and implemented very strict regulations then things might change...

    Trump is "funded by others".

He doesn't have as many masters as they typical candidate. He self funded some and got a lot of free advertising thanks to PC culture news outlets.

GOP really has some first-rate thinkers ... LOL
An Arizona state lawmaker has proposed a $20 fee on people who want to view online pornography in order to raise money for building a border wall between Arizona and Mexico. Source
Even if every single person in the state opted to pay this fee, it wouldn't even cover the openings in said wall, but hey ... I guess Mexico pays the difference?

He used just $66m of his own money. And spent $957.6M. $334.8M campaign contributions, $543.4M party and joint fundraising committees, $79.3m from Super PACs. He already raised $100m+ for 2020 campaign from people and Super PACs.

SSSHHHHH, we're busy fighting our generation's WWII over here according your Democrats new star politician. No time for this nonsense..... As for me, I'm still working on figuring out the problem your senior representative on the armed services committee noted when he pointed out that Guam could actually tip over! That one's been a real head-scratcher to solve. I'm thinking of putting Senator Spartacus on it - he seems like a real problem solver.

Meanwhile back in the great white north, government is just another word for things we all do together, like steal money from taxpayers for the personal enjoyment of bureaucrats.

LOL This reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Bart and Millhouse find $20 and go on a spending spree .. did anyone check if they charged for a Squishy made entirely of Syrup?

Hope these guys get what's coming to them. But as you say .. not bloody likely.
