LeBron James has a different gear that he can go to in the playoffs. We've seen it. That guy almost singlehandedly beat the Warriors in the Finals 3 years ago with Dellavedova as the Cavs 2nd best player.
Unfortunately none of the other guys on that team has such a gear.... No matter how good you are... its tough to win 1 on 5 in a team game.

    • AND DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME....

With about 20 to go in the regular season this stretch is what in golf is called "moving time". How are teams setting themselves up as the playoffs are but 6 weeks away.

      Sending a message games

Raps @ Wizards. Its in DC. Lots of messages in this one. The Wizards have put on a serious run without their best player which sends a message to John Wall that maybe he can adapt his game somewhat when he gets back. The Wiz want to send a message to the Raps that they can beat them when it matters. They have done it twice already but this one is more important as the regular season has almost played itself out and these two teams have aspirations of a lot more. The Raps want to send a message to the Wiz that says not tonight... not next week... not in the playoffs ... not ever. Should be a good one.
Edge to the Raps as the Wiz are playing their 3rd game in 4 nights.

Charlotte @ Hinkies The Hinkies held on and won last night in Cleveland. They had a couple of speed wobbles in the 4th and after coughing one up in Miami it looked like the Hinks were about to kaak down the stretch again... but they held on... Tonight they can send a message with a win at home over the BobHornetCats that they are moving up the playoff ladder looking to finish high enough that they get home court. The Hornets are in 10th... 4 games back in the loss column to the Heat. I think theyre dead man walking but a win here keeps hope alive. Hope is a cruel thing at times. Who am I kidding. Charlotte sucks and has sucked all year....Edge to the Hinkies making a statement tonight.

      Just win baby

Indy @ Milwaukee Indy is starting to slip a little.Last week they were in 5th and had a run of 3 cupcakes that would have had them at 36 and 25 and put them in the race for homecourt. They lost 2 of them and are now a loss away from 7th. They suit up tonight against the Bucks who started out with a signature win on the road against the raptors and looked to be a team that was moving up to 3rd on merit. They have kaaked up 3 losses since then and need this one if they have any hope of finishing 4th for homecourt. The most surprising team in the East vs (with all due respect) to one of the more disappointing ones as the Bucks were pre season picks to be in the top 3 of the East. Couple of really motivated teams.... Edge to the Bucks and the Alphabet at home as its getting closer to midnight for Indy.

Detroit @ Orlando The Magic.. despite hanging with the Raps for most of the game before the Raps played tough defense and gave a shit and in a flash pulled out to a 14 point lead in just 3 or 4 minutes in the 4th quarter are pretty much playing out the string. They are dead last or first in the Tank Derby. Weltman doesn't want to jeopardize that. The Pistons who through no work of their own doing are within 2 games of the Heat in the loss column. They need this game to stay that way and draw a half game closer before they play the Heat tomorrow night in South Beach in what will be the game of the night. Edge to the Pistons.

        Finals 3 yrs ago

Dellavedova wasn't close to 2nd best. Even Mozgov was better than him in those finals.

        • Heres something to chew on..... 538 had a look at who gets boned the most by the refs.... its not who you'd think leading the pack....but we are tied for 10th overall.....

On an indvidual player basis... maybe Demar should have his techs paid for by the team.. .it would seem the ever stoic DeRozan may have a point...

Again.. the player most aggrieved by the 3 blind mice is not who you would suspect.

                • One thing with their analysis is that some teams play more close games than others (something that was only touched on with the Nets). Yeah, the Celtics may have had one more missed call, but they've seem to have played far more games than we have. Also could have used a team-opponent stat showing how many bad calls went either way.

                        • Yeah, I wouldn't give Carroll or the Nets any calls either.

Cool idea and I like 538, but that seems like really shoddy analysis. Why wouldn't you account for minutes played in those situations?! That would be by far the biggest factor. Look at the Nets for example. Yeah, 28 bad calls, most in the league, but they're also near the top in minutes in that situation. We can math that out to one bad call every 1.6 minutes.

                            https://stats.nba.com/teams/clutch-t...es&PointDiff=3

Guess what, when we do the math for the Raptors, also 1.6 minutes.
Other teams near the top in bad calls project similarly when parsed out by bad calls per minute: Mavs, 1.6. OKC, 2.0. Chicago 2.2. The team that stands out at a glance is Denver, who get a bad call against every 1.1 minutes. At the other end, Cleveland (shocking, I know!!) gets a bad call once every 3.6 minutes.

edit: oh, and everything in this thread needs a boston sux angle, boston leans toward more favorable (not egregiously so), with a bad call against every 2.1 minutes.

                            • Bucks lose to Indiana, and they've now lost four straight after beating us.

Meanwhile Detroit loses to Orlando...I'm not sure how much longer that sliver of hope will last

Pistons are done. You can't lose to Orlando if you're fighting for a playoff spot.
