Trier signed a two-way deal with the Knicks, which is better than the camp invite that Alkins got from the Raptors. With the state of the Knicks, he's probably got a halfway decent chance to at least spend some time at the end of the bench, which may be a more attractive proposition than battling for a position in the Raptors backcourt.
It's pretty much an equivalent deal. The Raptors signed Alkins to an Exhibit 10, meaning 50k guaranteed and either making the roster or potentially being shifted into a two-way deal.

NBAdraft.net had him going #37 in their last Mock, and they nailed the Top-20 outside of few misses (Young/Bamba etc.). http://www.nbadraft.net/players/rawle-alkins

        Solid pickup Masai!

Perhaps another verse to be added to the Bible of Masai?

Yeah this one caught me by surprise when I woke up this morning. Didn't realize he was ranked so highly at one point in mock drafts.

Sounds very confident and he also sounds like Vince Carter lol

Before watching it, I thought you meant his demeanor or something like that sounded like Carter, but then I heard his voice, and damn it hit me. Haha

He was a five star recruit.
Not only that, he was #21 on ESPNs Top 100 Recruits, behind mostly a bunch of other first rounders:

Dude had offers from Kentucky, Kansas and North Carolina as well ... wonder if the Kentucky/NC Blue (and $$$) would have helped him go higher?

Trevon Duval was #6, went to Duke, and he still went undrafted.

Alkins dealt with a foot injury that hampered him so I'm hoping this is an OG situation where he slid farther than he might have gone had he been healthy.

He can defend and hit the 3 on an NBA level plus score in transition. I think he can be a solid contributor defensively in certain matchups especially against those nuisance big guards like J.Holiday or Beal that caused the Raps so many problems this season.

Like his attitude towards defence. Nice to see young players saying things like "I want to be known as a two-way player" or "first thing you do is get yourself on the court as being a solid defender".

This is the kind of mentality the Raptors need now. Offence in the NBA took a big leap in the past 5 years, so the teams that will get the edge now are the ones able to evolve/adapt their defence to that. That's why I think guys like Lance Stephenson, Marcus Smart PJ Tucker etc... have seen a rise/resurgence in the past few years. Good pickup for the raps by the sound of it.

                          Rawle Alkins, SG, Arizona

Alkins was actually considered more likely to be drafted in the second round than Trier, but he also did not hear his name called in Brooklyn. A highly athletic off-guard who spent the majority of his time playing the three at Arizona, Alkins does have some work to do as a perimeter shooter as he sifts through the summer league offers that are likely to come his way. Given his height (6-foot-4.25 with shoes) Alkins was an undersized wing at Arizona, which may have turned some teams off when it came to using a second-round pick on him.

Masai values character as much or more than he values wingspan.
