            • So, is anybody's Kawhidy sense tingling? Is he somewhere in a gym in the city? No reports from the usual watchers.

All the reports were that players were reporting on the 15th. Miles' wife just posted "back in Toronto" on twitter. I think the whole roster is here. But no, no actual reports yet. I imagine no press is allowed in these workouts, even the coaches aren't allowed to coach organized sessions before training camp.

But, the impact from VC has just left a longer lasting effect on the Raptors (were great with him, terrible without him), basketball in the country, etc. The Raptors got better by getting rid of DeRozan, however way you wanna spin how the deal went down.
There's a big difference between trading for an MVP candidate and trading for the pu pu platter that Babcock got for Carter.

And again this is why the definitions matter. Carter unquestionably had the best peak. If Kawhi wins the MVP here this year and leaves next summer, he won't be the greatest Raptor either.

For Greatest I have Lowry over both DeRozan and Vince.

DeRozan's stats look way better but Kyle had a bigger impact on wins than DeMar did during Masai's tenure. And Lowry surpassed Vince for me last year. A key contributor in a 59 win team.. and was one of our best players in the playoffs despite the loss/sweep to the Cavs again.

DeRozan is far more loyal than Kyle. He was drafted by the Raptors. He reps the city as much as anyone can. Never even bothered testing out the market in free agency. And was upset that he was traded. But for me "greatest" has more to do with what have you done to help us win games.

                    For me it's:

                    1) Lowry
                    2) Vince
                    3) DeMar

Kawhi in his prime is better than all three from a talent point of view.. but at this point he's nothing more than Alonzo Mourning. Need to see him play some games before we can move him up (or even on) any GOAT Raptor ladder.
No question Kyle is the better player with a bigger impact. But he's eighth all time in games played for the franchise. He needs a couple more seasons here and then I'd have no problem putting him at number one.

                      • DeRozan is the greatest Raptor for now imo, but if we win the title this year, depending on how big of an impact Lowry has on that he'll probably move into the #1 spot. Or Kawhi might just take it tbh. Titles are remembered VERY well by history, moreso than 6 really good regular seasons and so-so playoffs.

Yeah actually thinking about it. If Kawhi were to have a monster season this year and win the title he's the GOAT Raptor. Like it's not even debatable. The lifetime stuff goes out the window once titles/MVPs are involved.

                          You'd just move fans into
                          1/ GOAT DeRozan
                          2/ Greatest impact player Kawhi
                          3/ Bulldog award Lowry
                          4/ Greatest what-could-have-been-if-he-had-any-heart Vince

If Kawhi re-signs, he's eventually GOAT for sure in short order, championships or not becasue he'll still show up in the post season without a doubt, conference finals, finals, whatever

                          • For me:
                            - Greatest Raptor = DeRozan
                            - Driver of Wins = Lowry
                            - Best Basketball Player in a Raptors Jersey = Kawhi (we'll see what happens with this one)
                            - Most Drama (highest high to lowest low) = Vince

Vince is really overrated in our memories. Guy's peak in MVP shares was #10, which he got to once. The rest of his best years he spent in the teens on that front. He only got All-NBA twice, a 2nd and a 3rd. That arguably makes him a top 10 (but not top 5) guy one year and top 15 another year. Or the 3rd/4th best guard/wing in the league. In Toronto we thought he was god incarnate for a couple of years, but from a league wide perspective he was about as good as Lowry and DeRozan have been at their peaks. Lowry/DeRozan's league-wide recognition in terms of MVP shares and All-NBA are very, very comparable to what Vince got while here. Lowry hit #10 MVP, DeRozan's hit a #8 and a #11. Lowry's gotten 3rd team All-NBA, DeRozan's gotten a 2nd and a 3rd (same as Vince). Vince had 5 ASG's in Toronto, Lowry and DeRozan have had 4 each.

Vince was hugely popular, I think that skewed our perception of how good he actually was as a basketball player. Also, the team had never been that good before. If an amazing dunker came in for our next phase of Raptors ball but the team fell off by 10 wins a year and got bounced in the 1st round again, now we'd be pissed instead of hyped like we were back then.

                            • Vince is STILL the greatest player in franchise history. Nothing really has changed. He was a TRUE franchise player unlike Lowry and DeRozan.

Yes, DeRozan has more points than Vince. But that's mostly because he played here A LOT longer than Vince lol.

Kawhi has a chance to surpass Vince as the GROAT -- IF he re-signs.

If you want to win, Kyle is better.
