" A lineup featuring Lowry, Danny Green, OG Anunoby, Pascal Siakam and a healthy Leonard is probably the favorite for the most terrifying defensive unit in the NBA."

    I'll go along with that.

Most terrifying defensive unit, with one of the leagues most lethal scorers, another top 20 scorer, and 3 point specialist and 2 developing young studs. We lack in neither direction of the court.

I think this article most clearly wraps up Leonards potential impact with the Raptors, calling for a significant improvement in their performance because of it. The crazy thing is that it doesn't even mention Danny Greens potential impact.

The Raptors could suffer injuries to players filling two different positions from 1 - 4 and hardly miss a step. The center position is the only one that really appears weak and could have knock on effects if Serge were forced to slide over and play big minutes there. Having said that, I expect Masai to address that problem later in the offseason.

            Finishes really strong.

We all know about the difference in defense between the 2, but this a great look at their offensive comparison. Usage nearly identical, Leonard efficiency noticeably better
It's crazy how well Kawhi can fit into this team. He's essentially a more efficient DeMar clone on offense but is possibly the best perimeter defender in the NBA ever (well maybe after Scottie Pippen, but it's a close call).

              • Our own Dan has a great thread out there on Twitter about the parallel's between the Kawhi trade and the Vince trade from years ago:

Never thought about it this way, and I think you're dead on.

I have a sense if that all goes well with this transaction MU might well have another move at least before the summer is done. The defensive aspects/prospects are rather exciting... with players with really capable of defending the 3 ...this being the new NBA game now. Also many fans will appreciate what Green will bring to the team both on and off the court.

Kyle Lowry and Anthony Parker. It was kind of crazy to me. Yet another reason why it's so exciting to add Kawhi.

This is what blew my mind about the deal. Masai managed to retain OG and simultaneously add Green, who was 2nd team all defense in 2017.

We've never had a player make all-defense! And we potentially netted an extra two players on that level thanks to not sending OG away.

                        Really terrific job by Masai.

                              • Really good article on why Toronto might be able to keep Kwahi (from a San Diego reporter):
                                https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com...722-story.html

Even got a quote from Norm's mom:

                                Or listen to Sharon Powell.

She’s the mother of Norman Powell, the Lincoln High alum who played at UCLA and was initially drafted by Milwaukee, only to be quickly dealt farther east to Toronto. A Southern California boy shipped to the Great White North.

He’s been there three seasons and last fall signed a four-year extension. Sharon, who lives in San Diego, likes it so much that she vows to attend every home game this season.

“The first time I went, it was freezing cold – cold like you just don’t know,” Sharon says. “But it was the best, it was amazing … Norman loves it there, he really does. He likes the city, the people, the team. The fans are so great, so supportive. They’re humble, they’re nice, they’re cordial. I haven’t seen pushy people yet.

“It’s just a fabulous place. Everybody has treated us with open arms. I’m hoping when Kawhi gets there he’ll feel the same way. I know he’ll be treated the same way.”
