I guess that AD injury he got in the last game didn't go over so well with the owners.
About time. I swear there must be a serious shortage of people applying for the position because some teams hold onto the worst GM's for way longer than they should.

    • Davis scored 32 in 25 mins last week in his first game back. Alvin Gentry completely benched him in the 4th. The following game, Davis only scored 3. I mean, can you really blame him?

The Pels are a mickey mouse organization, Davis been there for 7 years and they have failed to surround him with real talents. Can't really blame him for asking for a trade.

To bad for Dell.. not that he was the most astute of the GM's in the league but I wonder if this chain of events hardens the attitudes of small market teams on how player movement comes about...This screwed up NO for the rest of the year and beyond and the Lakers are not exactly functioning in the most stable of locker rooms right now..

On the hard ass side of the coin.. you could say that the NO Ownership team is between weak and cheap/incompetent. The basketball side reports into a football guy. The Pelicans have to share medical personell with the Saints. NO looks like is a dime store operation who needs a tethered goat to be sacrificed to explain how badly managed and poorly funded they are by ownership.... enter Dell Demps. .

Heres a contrarian viewpoint Rex... If Anthony Davis is so fucking good.. how come New Orleans is always so fucking bad ?

Giannas got the Bucks to the playoffs....
Lebron got a pretty pedestrian crew in Cleveland in the last couple years to the finals....
Harden all by his lonesome gets Houston to the playoffs...

          Just an observation.

Because they don't have any good players other than Davis and Holiday?

Giannis have a great supporting cast around him. LeBron had Love and Irving in Cleveland. And Harden has Paul and Gordon and Capela...

              • Davis situation is a lot like Bosh situation in Toronto. Who was the Raptors 2nd best player during those Chris Bosh Raptors team? Calderon? Bargnani?

LOL... cmon KC.. its the new positionless NBA after all.....Davis has been lauded ad nauseum as a league MVP candidate year in and year out. He is spoken about in solemn and hushed tones as one of the 5 best players in the league by the leagues cognoscenti ....

So .. if he is all that and more.. why does his team come up a buck short and a day late 6 out of 7 years ?

                  • Pelicans were really good last year. Swept Portland before losing to the Warriors in round 2. And they did that without Cousins as he was hurt.

Not sure what happened to them this year.

They sort of remind me of the Wizards. And how Beal/Wall swept Toronto and then couldn't make the playoffs the following year. The difference is Wall stuck around and eventually got a super max. Davis wants to leave.

                    But the similarities are there.

                    • Actually that probably says more about Toronto and Portland than it does Washington and New Orleans

ANd Davis had Jrue Holiday who was an allstar level PG to handle the ball.....
Etuan Moore and Mirotic who both hit the 3 ball at a better than 35% 3 point rate....
A banger inside in Juluis Randle....

Its a fair comparison to the other teams supporting casts.... though I will give you that Love was and is an impact player that NO doesn't have .

                        But consider this...

Clint Capela ? The swapped in Kevin Faried off the scrap heap and Houston doesn't seem to miss ole CLint all that much. Chris Paul has been on the shelf for weeks and Houston actually won more. Eric Gordon isn't having the year this year he had last year ....

Giannas supporting cast ... he has Middleton who is as good a 3 point threat as is Moore/Mirotic percentage wise...Have to think in a school yard game.. Holiday goes before either of Brogdan or Bledsoe.

And yet there sits Houston and Milwuakee firmly in the playoffs... as New Orleans picks up the pieces of another year of failed expectations with Anthony Davis as the leading actor in this drama.

                        • Dell Demps deserve to be fired for not standing up to the league. He should have said fuck you im not playing a player who asked to be traded and risk injury. NBA has no right to dictate playing time of a player to a team. This set a precedent for small market teams with superstar players asking to be traded. The pelicans neeeded to take a stand against the NBA and didn't dell was spineless.

Last year was the first season that Jrue Holiday was fully healthy and they made it to the second round. AD is a lot like KG. Kevin Garnett didn't make the second round with the T-Wolves until his 8th season. Davis did it in year 6. KG lost the first 22 of 27 playoff games he ever played. He was becoming another T-Mac. lol. That was back before superteams when it was easier for 1-star teams to make it into the playoffs.

He's had two playoff appearances in a historically good western conference, including last year as a 5 seed upsetting the 3 seed blazers....

Oh and in the playoffs he's averaging 31 and 13. All while not having the power to initiate the offence and losing a couple seasons to injury

This Anthony Davis might be overrated thing because he's been stuck on a poorly run organization thing needs to stop. Man is the closest thing we've seen to prime Kareem.

Really hope he gets his "kevin garnett opportunity" so he can get some damn respect
