He's had two playoff appearances in a historically good western conference, including last year as a 5 seed upsetting the 3 seed blazers....

Oh and in the playoffs he's averaging 31 and 13. All while not having the power to initiate the offence and losing a couple seasons to injury

This Anthony Davis might be overrated thing because he's been stuck on a poorly run organization thing needs to stop. Man is the closest thing we've seen to prime Kareem.

Really hope he gets his "kevin garnett opportunity" so he can get some damn respect
Your kind of on an "its everyone else's fault but AD's" tangent here... You can't expect all the glory when it goes well and none of the consequences when it goes badly can you ?

Davis .. even though he has been a 6 time AS and more impressively an All NBA first team selection three times... hasn't got his team past the second round of the playoffs in 7 years.

A kareem comparison is pretty high praise indeed...but given his teams accomplishments in the playoffs.. perhaps a comparison to the playoff impact of Chris Paul is more in line...

I'm with you demo. Now, NO has been very poorly run since davis was drafted. They have failed to put the necessary pieces around him. I think they are to blame for whats going there. But this was the year for them to get it together. With mirotic and randle on board, and jrue of course and Moore shooting well...if davis was the impact player everyone suggests, if he is so dominant then that team would be in the playoffs right now. He has alot of talent no doubt and can fill the stat sheet like few can, but he clearly isn't a leader and the type of player that others are just gonna lay it on the line for. Honestly, i'm glad we didn't trade for him, cause he's probably in the same category as kawhi in a lot of ways, and i dont think that even them together would get this team a chip. And then he leaves in a year and pascal is making all star games and all nba teams somewhere else.

Heres a contrarian viewpoint Rex... If Anthony Davis is so fucking good.. how come New Orleans is always so fucking bad.
        That’s a great quote. Awesome.

In hindsight, imagine in New Orleans still had Buddy Hield? He’s kind of exactly what they need. A sharpshooter on a rookie scale contract.

Mirotic missed 22 games and Payton missed 40. Randle is a crappy defender. And you can only do so much without any decent wings in today's NBA.

Another contrarian view then.... Superstars reach that plateau from mere stars by making others around them better ....

Giannas gives space measured in meters to Middelton and Brogdon and Bledsoe to bomb away from the arc with few contests as the defense sags to cover the Alphabet in the paint.

Lebron.. well.. dragging that bag of shit in Cleveland last year to the finals was MVP/GOAT like.

Durant and Curry and Thompson .... its hard to measure how this crew makes each other better ...they must somehow as the ball doesn't stick in anyones hands and they just keep winning titles.

Harden... where the ball does stick like crazy glue does't really make anyone better but he uses whatever supporting cast Daryl Morey gets him to get wins and get to the playoffs.....

Davis... well the guys puts up numbers like Harden. I think its unquantifiable pro or con but does he really make anyone on the team better? What is quantifiable is that he doesn't get teams to the playoffs...

Fully support his ask to work in a different organization. A little bush league how he did it... but no one should have to work in a place they don't want to be if there are other choices....and the organization should move a person who doesn't want to be there for whatever compensation they can get....

Seriously? So you don't like valid contracts if the player suddenly doesn't feel like honouring it?

Should also be noted that if, as some had pondered, you took just the top 16 teams (by winning %) and then sorted, you'd get a first round of

                    Lakers @ Milwaukee
                    Nets @ Toronto
                    Kings @ Golden State
                    Clippers @ Denver
                    Spurs @ Indiana
                    Jazz @ OKC
                    Rockets @ Boston
                    Trail Blazers @ Philly

                      Contracts can be traded....

If you have people working in your organization that don't want to be there it generally affects the other employees in a negative way... so ....If they want to leave.. then by all means help them leave .....

No different for Davis... he wants out.. then out he goes.. for whatever you can get from whomever will give you the most.

Do you really believe Lebron, dragging the Cavs, was 100% Pure? Do you believe that he had no help from the NBA, through its control over it's officials?

I've been in this game, either playing, or watching for close to 31 years now, I, don't believe those things to be true. Not with what I watched.

But not contracts say "we'll pay you $25M per year for 6 years ...... or until you're not happy
The contract (generally) DOES say you can be traded.

That was for me but Gasol's arrival has acted as heavy dose of pepto-bismol.

The league is getting to a point where we'll probably see some "reverse no-trade" clauses, meaning certain players won't be able to "ask for trades" anymore, just like certain players have clauses on their contracts saying the team can't move them until the term is up.

This kind of free-for-all we're seeing for guys just asking out of their teams to gang up somewhere (always LA or NY) to try to form superteams is getting old, and can interfere with the parity and competitiveness of the league.

To me there should be 4 types of contracts:
                                1. Double no-trade (neither the team, nor the player can initiate a trade)
                                2. Player no-trade (Team can't ask for a trade, but player can)
                                3. Team no-trade (Player can't ask for a trade, but team can)
                                4. Open ended (both can initiate a trade)

That would at least somewhat lessen the drama when a star ask for a trade or a team tries to move a star against his wish. The whole thing is set up from the the beginning, and player, team, and fanbase are all aware of the possibilities from the getgo.
