    • Tonight the Hinkies laid the wood to the Lakers...

      So here is the thing..

Is this outcome more a reflection of what the Hinkes are.... or ..... is it a refection of what the Lakers aren't ?

I will be going with the notion of What the Lakers aren't.

      • Hinkies can beat anyone in the first or second round. So can the Bucks. So can the Celtics.
        So can the Raptors....

        Lakers are no yardstick

I guess not, LA gave up 143 points! Hinkies went 12/24 from deep.

Rather play the 76ers. We seem to have a good handle on them. Celtics we beat once and lost a close one to them in game 2. Bucks are weird. All 3 seem winnable and lose-able at the same time.

You realize two of the Hinkies, Bucks, Celtics, and Raptors will not beat anybody in the second round this year?

I watched most of it. Lakers are awful defensively. No effort and no understanding of what to do. Embiid got a rebound and went the length of the floor for a dunk and no Laker was ever within 10 feet of him despite it taking him 5 minutes to dribble the ball that far. Lakers are terrible. They aren't making the playoffs.

Philly is the obvious choice given our success against them this year and we now have Gasol to match-up against Embiid. Boston is a scarier opponent if only because of Kyrie. He is such an amazing offensive talent, we just don't have guards that can slow him down. Keep in mind with 26/27 games after the ASG break, injuries and the integration of new payers may change preferences.

Looking at integration of new players, Philly has the most new mouths to feed. Bucks and Raps have each added only 1 starter / rotation player. Boston have no new acquisitions (yet). We have a number of other additions but none are expected to see major minutes during playoffs when rotations go to 9 or even 8 players.

We'll get another look tonight, but why do I have the feeling that integrating Gasol will be essentially painless? His skill set (being tall, being smart, being experienced, having a reliable shot from the 3 point line in to 5 feet and being one of the best passing big men playing the game) should make his addition seamless, to no net detriment. It might take the rest of the season to get the maximum effectiveness out of his play, but I don't anticipate any drop off on offence or defense whatsoever in the next few weeks after him joining the team.

What does that have to do with what I said
Any of them are capable of beating a second round opponent. Is it news to you that they'd have to get there first lol

                      • There must be rapt panic in the executive suite of the Magic Johnson led LALakers.

It started out great..They got Lebron to sign for four years right out of the gate.

Then the Rob and Magic show began to shit the bed.

First..Paul George said no thanks to playing in Lakerville forcing the Rob and Magic show to sign one of the most eclectic group of has been and never will be’s to one year deals.

Next up..Magic got outplayed and outsmarted by of all teams the New Orleans Pelicans. He looked like a bit of an ameteur card player by betting against his own money. What else does he have to offer in the summer?

Now he may be fined again for tampering by saying he wants to work out with Ben Simmons in the summer ..yet another player repped by Rich Paul and Klutch Sports ( a division of Lebronco ) .... after getting his fingers tapped by the league for tampering with Anthony Davis.

Great player beyond doubt..successful executive....not so much. He has at least 7 players on one year deals ..the Lakers don’t seem to miss Lonzo Ball all that much and he was magics guy at two overall..and both Ingram and Kuzma must wonder when the phone call comes to tell them they’re leaving in a trade.

Good luck Magic..you’re going to need it.

                        • Not a playoff prediction but rather an interesting observation for the remainder of the season: we play a potential play off opponent only twice (Brooklyn and Boston) until the end of the season. Kind of interesting in that none of them will have a tested game plan against the new look Raptors, and same goes for the Raptors against the opponents (Bucks, Sixers)

                            - A Morris twin stirring the pot saying its not fun to play in ScallopCity.

                            - Every guy coming off the bench in Boston is privately thinking he is waaaaay better than the guy playing in front of him... makes for a harmonious change room

                            - Brad Stevens.. faced with the first player based insurrection on his watch in BeanTown... is simply MIA on his dressing room problems.

Happy there are no innocent hotel room mirrors in the dressing room that Marcus Smart can punch to death...

It ain't pretty in Boston right now.

Never thought about this. Very good point. As simplistic Nurse’s system is, opposing teams will just have to rely on their scouts and their prior experience against a Gasol led offense.

Especially both the Sixers and Bucks

Though we may never test theirs either with the addition of Harris and Mirotic.

Very interesting sked for them. 3 of their next 5 games are @Sixers, @bucks, @Raptors.

If they drop all those games it's more and more likely their spot will be 5th..on the road against a very very good team. Yes even indy has not lost much a step and added a rejuvenated Matthews

If Boston doesnt start rolling then forget the 2nd round, theyll struggle to get out of the 2nd week..
