Would have liked a knock-down shooter, but McCaw has a solid floor game from what I remember (ie can operate as a secondary ball handler).

He's really not much of a creator. He's basically Lorenzo Brown, but can actually play defence, and is just a bad shooter rather than a truly terrible one. The real difference is that he actually has upside (at his age could certainly develop that jump shot), and potentially long term value for the team.

If the Raps want a real this-year difference making bench piece, they'll need to pay for it - by adding a 15th man and the associated tax costs with a March 1st waived vet add, or via trade. That said, they at least upgraded the 14th spot, it's just still in "you're in trouble if he has to play" status.

Hopefully he'll be a glue guy who has great ball IQ and has hustle and energy on defense. Zo brown has hustle and energy but can be too much of a chucker and has low ball IQ. He almost cost the Raps the game vs Indy where after everyone got pumped on the Kawhi dunk, he tried to posterize the league leader in blocked shots instead of passing it in the corner to a wide open Danny Green (or whoever was in the corner).

And the man's got more rings than anyone else on the roster.

thought Mccaw was dumb but not to bad of a move financially I guess. he will make a little over 1 mil this year (between raps and what Cleveland payed him. he turned down 5 mil for 2 years in GSW. so if he can't get a contract more than 4 mil a year next off season he come out ahead and gets to pick what team he plays for.

Good article in The Athletic on McCaw. Mentions he had multiple offers but chose raptors because of their player development. Mentions Phil Handy.

McCaw's gonna look like a fucking G — having won rings the last two years with GSW — when he wins another this year with us.

There it is. Raps are ahead of the curve in that department in the NBA. From Fred to Siakam, 2 guys whom 2 years ago nobody gave much thoughts in the draft have advanced so much (in very little time) thanks in part to a robust player development program. NBA Players are taking notice.

That may be something they look at the next time they go to the bargaining table.

I don’t see a violation here the kid still has to clear waivers before Cleveland can sign him. The nba just doesn’t use its waivers system which is no fault of Cleveland

It will be interesting to see what happens with him, developmentally and career wise. Always is with the young Raptors #scubs #discards #undrafted prospects.

As has already been mentioned, interesting that Patrick chose to go to the Raptors. Advice from an agent?
