Lowry was never going to make value for that contract after he got it. It was for what he did before it.
He knows how to win, he can lead, and on balance his back is bad, he's slowing down, and his shooting is falling off.
Not many options at his position on the market or that match salaries without blowing everything up.

It's hard to find dynamic players like that. If we are struggling to close games against a team as bad as the Wizards, how are we going to look vs the Celtics or the Warriors? Especially when they double Kawhi and we can't be sure whether Kyle will score in the clutch?
