I agree just Davis seems like the cheaper option
If you're looking for value I'd want one of the undraftees, a la Bachynski. If we're signing a free agent might as well use the entire MLE on Hill long term.

How would Davis cost more than Hill?

How can we assume Lowry is back?

If are trying to retain Lowry and keeping Amir and all the RFA that totals 13 players excluding the non guarantees you are up against the salary cap including 2.65 million for attributions for Salmons , Camby and Hansborough.
However you will have approx. 13 million before you hit the luxury tax for two players.

Yeah I'd have no problem bringing Ed Davis back. Say what you want about him but he had a real talent for timing on blocks and rebounds.

I think we should drop Hans, Salmons, Stone and Buycks

We have to sign a back up 5 and a back up 3. I'm assuming both Bruno and Daniels won't be in the line up.

              Jonas/?????/Hayes
              Amir/2Pat/Hayes/Novak
              Ross/????/Landry/Bruno
              DeMar/????/Landry
              Klow/Vasquez/DeColo

Lots of holes in this line up...Ariza, Granger, Butler we need someone who can score off the bench. I would be cool with an Aaron Gray type player as a back up 5. I can't wait for Landry, Hayes, Novak, and all of the buyouts to be off our payroll.

Right now we are able to spend about 10.8 M for Kyle or for a Free Agent
We can use the 5.1M non taxpayer MLE for this year to sign another FA
We can let Amir walk for nothing and clear cap room to get to 18M for Kyle and a Free Agent.

23M for a FA and Lowry. We need to stay under the luxury not the cap. Lowry's hold is about 9M and we have bird rights.

Amir is guaranteed at $5M.. can't waive his contract completely. Would be dumb to save just $2M on a player of Amir's capabilities.

                    • Raps should waive John Salmons and use some cap space to go after Trevor Ariza

                      Comment

                      • They can also free up some space by stretching Fields and/or Hayes. Not really a good idea since payments have to be made in 3 years instead of 1.

The other option is to swing some kind of S&T for a free agent.. assuming the team he's playing for would want some of our assets.

Even if they waive Salmons they will be over the cap. The Raptors should have adequate cap space though if Lowry signs elsewhere but that's a bad case scenario.

                          • Not even close to the luxury tax , if you blow off salmons & Hansborough, -43 million , ten million for KL, 10 to 12 million for PP, GV and decolo. That brings you to 65 for 13 players add 5.3 million split for the MLE plus .65 for Camby.

Salary for 15 players total 71 million .

Next year Raptor offload Fields, Landry + Camby Attribution for 13 million plus 2 million for the buy-outs , with 5 million ion increases for presently employed raptors. Leaving T.O. with 8-10 million for 2015/16 cap which maybe as high as 67 million next year with a luxury tax at 80 million.

                            • i think our best bet is to not make any large moves in free agency and wait for Hayes, Fields, Camby and Salmons to slide completely off the books, which will open up a large amount of cap space.

                              • We just acquired the scorer off the bench we needed in Lou Williams. We just need a SF to back up Ross. Caron Butler, Ariza, Granger, Aminu?

                                JV, Bebe, Hayes
                                Amir, 2Pat, Hayes, Novak
                                Ross,????,Landry, Bruno
                                DeMar, Lou Williams, Landry
                                Lowry, Vasquez, Lou Williams

DeColo, and Hans are expendable now. This is looking like a good lineup if everyone comes in healthy.
