You're taking the one of the best backup centres in the league out of the best big man rotation in the league -- making it one injury away from having no NBA centre -- to bring an inefficient ball dominant wing to an already top 10 offence. Makes no sense at all.

+1. Makes no sense for Memphis. Waiters is a black hole and now they have no insurance for Gasol. Head scratcher for sure.

I would argue that Mem needs 3 pt shooters more than a backup C. As I said, if Dion flourishes, he's an all star 2 guard. Much harder to come by than a back up big.

If Gasol gets injured for any stretch they're screwed. That alone makes this a bad trade.
