it is pretty dumb that landry got the starting spot as soon as he was healhty, especially after how well JJ was playing. i could see why he'd be a little miffed.

OP, you can embed instagram posts like you can twitter posts (click the three dots next to "leave a comment", click "Embed" then copy the contents and paste it here).

Ross seems to just float around the court and has no sense of urgency, will jack up a missed 3 and turns and jogs back down court. Even on D he's not getting low, just standing there straight up and getting blown by.
As for JJ, i can definitely see why he would be frustrated watching this stuff.

Late last night James Johnson posted a pic on his instagram showing Scottie Pippen with the quote ' Sometimes a player's greatest challenge is coming to grips with his role on the team - Scottie Pippen ' .
I'm not sure how to see this? is this a subtle complaint about his minutes? or maybe a message to some of his teammates or coaching staff? or just a random post on his part? ..thoughts?
I could only see JJ speaking about either himself or if anyone else Vasquez. I don't really see anyone on the team playing outside of their roles with the exception of those two...mainly Vasquez.

I might not say that Vasquez is playing outside his role. He's playing the way he's always played, he's just doing a crappy job of it now.

His shot selection was cringe-worthy last year too, but he simply made shots, so it was forgiven.

There doesn't seem to be any disciplinary consequences to his chucking, which makes me think that he's playing exactly how Casey wants him to (as pathetic as that is).

JJ's offence has been a pleasant surprise, but TBH I couldn't care whether he scores 7 or 17 pts. He needs more court time because this team needs to defend better. He and Amir are the only 2 who've played like plus defenders this year. And with Amir's ankles, he should be playing less regular season minutes in an ideal world.

With DD back, the other wings, and especially Vasquez should have their minutes cut. Casey has to figure out a way to increase rather than decrease JJ's minutes. And yeah some of that increase may have to include him at the 4.
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

Better him at the 4 than Hans

Hans almost exclusively plays the 5 though. He only ever plays with PPat, and there he's playing the 5

I would love to see JJ start instead of Ross once Derozan comes back. I think Ross hasn't really lived up to expectations and I get he is still growing but he hasn't done anything so far this season to make me think he's a better option as a starter than JJ.

Vasquez just seems like he's bent on shooting himself out of any slump he might be in. I feel like as the main PG backing up Lowry he should try to set up team mates better. But he just seems to try and get his own shot off before anyone else.

I think Casey's hands are sort of tied with Vasquez though. Who is going to back up Lowry if you bench GV? Lou is a SG and doesn't create for anyone....we could really use a point forward like Hedo right now....

For the whole season JJ has been talking about "staying in his lane" as the biggest lesson he's learned to get him back in the league. So, I don't think we should be reading too much into one Instagram post along the same lines - although it is pretty easy to overreact after a performance like last night.

If anything, now we get to see what Casey is made of. If he can't get the team to tighten up the defense, as a so-called defensive coaching specialist, then he's lost the room or is simply over-rated in that respect. Regardless, now is a good time to go through these type of problems.

Yo..I'm happy with JJ comments, someone had 2 say it. This will all change once Demar comes back. I'm kind of disappointed with Coach Casey where the F@!K was Hayes, play him,I'm not liking Lou on this team at all,I've said it since day one when they acquired him, yeah he get's u points, but his hogg, iso type and it's contract year,he ain't sharing the ball. It's all about Lou.

"The Mavs were a mere 20th in defensive efficiency when Rajon Rondo arrived, allowing 105.1 points per 100 possessions. In the seven games since, Dallas has been in the upper third." - Mark Stein

Not saying Casey can't do better, but Carlisle had similar issues. Nelson didn't just expect his coach to turn shit into shinola. He was lucky that Rondo was both available and a huge defensive upgrade at a position of need. Not sure what's out there and what MU's plans are. A healthy DD should help somewhat at least.
