    Calderon/Vasquez almost works moneywise.
Phil Jackson likes tall guards running the triangle whenever possible. NYK would need to add something for a swap.

Pretty sure the lack of p'n'r has nothing to do with JV's explosiveness or giving up charges. Think it has entirely to do with our lack of good p'n'r passers. JV is still a very good p'n'r player, we just don't have anyone who's good at running it. Vasquez was supposed to be that guy, but he has just decided to take horrible shots every time he touches the ball.

Gotta disagree, but only somewhat. Over 40% of his shots are behind the arc and almost all of them are open looks. If he were hitting them at anywhere close to a reasonable clip they would be good shots most times (i.e. when at least a few teammates are on the same side of the court).
But he's not a good 3PT shooter even if he thinks he is. Had one good half season with us last year, the rest of his career he's about 33%.

Pretty sure Chicago isn't letting him go any time soon.
He is getting a big pay day from Bulls this summer.

Mentioned elsewhere, but this is one thing that was lost one Calderon left. He was very good at hitting bigs rolling to the basket with very good passes that they were able to finish. Also hit back door cutters etc. more - just saw more layups around the rim from a quality pass.

Overall Lowry is a massive step up, obviously, but that passing skill is gone from this team. It also contributes to the low assist numbers imho.

"We need a separate League Pass Alert for when Portland is down between 10 and 15 points with about three minutes to go, because that’s when Lillard is about to start bombing 30-footers off the bounce. Having a conscience is good for regular humans, but for things to get fun, Lillard must set aside basketball ethics and just start chucking the damn thing."

    Yes.

My biggest takeaway from this is that JV has only attempted 28 shots in pick-and-rolls, that's staggeringly low considering that was what he used to be best at.

To be fair JV isn't as explosive as he once was.

it's a lot easier to draw a charge when JV is rolling to the basket. He needs to learn short roll and go for a floater or a jumpshot.
