Do you think if we had points leaders per season instead of averages that NBA players would play more ? It's a dog fight in the NHL for
top point getters this season and those guys will be trying to play every game, but NBA where average is the key then players might
rest or not play against hard opponents to protect their average ..

Have a feeling we're not gonna get a Jalen Green fan post tonight.

2. As usual you're just boxscore watching. You didn't even watch the game. The Mavs defended Green like he's Steph Curry, double teaming him whenever he crosses the half court. Of course he's going to struggle. He's 22.
Next time when you argue with me? watch the game you're going to argue me with and don't just bring up numbers.Mamba Mentality

And we might as well just forget about the blocks champion for the next decade or so, unless Wemby gets injured one season.

Most every other league you celebrate most HR's , RBI's , Most Touchdowns etc but NBA it's assist average , Rebound avg etc .,
The NBA wouldn't require min games played if we celebrated totals and not averages ..
But even then they don't say points scored in the NFL. They count the number of touchdowns. Or field goals kicked, etc.
If they tracked totals over averages though you'd definitely see more guys play. But that 65 game threshold the NBA created was brilliant though. Most stars are playing. The guys that aren't are legitimately hurt. Embiid's injury cost him all-nba this season for example.

This season, it wouldn't make a difference. All the totals leaders (pts, ast, reb, stl, blk) are the same as the per game average leaders.
And we might as well just forget about the blocks champion for the next decade or so, unless Wemby gets injured one season.
The guys with the highest averages are playing enough games where they also lead totals.

So maybe the 65 game rule is having its intended effect?

Money is obviously is the biggest factor, but qualifying for stat champs is a nice side-effect for certain players. Tyrese Haliburton is the perfect example. He's been playing through a pretty bad injury to qualify for All-NBA which gets him an additional $41M. But the side effect is that he's also the NBA assists totals leader and per game leader.

Any time the NBA wants players to do something tie it to money and it will happen. That's why I'm all for adding money incentives to the all star game and weekend festivities to make it more entertaining.
