I hope some one at the Bio Steel centre is gathering video on Indy vs NewLooks ....
The Pacers are now 4 and 1 vs the NewLooks this year....
One win ok its a long season and its one of those nights...two wins well maybe Indy won em both at home on B2B's or had some Chowderhead SHL go their way... .
But Four wins... what exactly are those guys doing....There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

Well the combatants are returning to their corners after round one of what looks to be a prolonged heavyweight fight. So even though the monday morning hot takes from Bristol will be on their way shortly..... What can you take from the weekend ?
Well the first thing is ... no one got swept... it may sound like it from various corners of the NBA universe .. but no one got swept.... Series start to reach tipping points at games 3 and 5. Game 1 is always great to get ....but... thats why they are 7 game series.
- Raps vs Whiz... Raps did what they were supposed to do. They won game one on their home floor. Could they better... Hell yes. Turned it over 17 times. That will get fixed. Raps used their bench effectively and put away the Whiz in the 4th Q and save for the early game spate of turnovers it was a professional win. If the Raps can leave the ACC up 2-0 it sets up for a shorter series.
- Pacers vs NewLooks - The Pacers were the better team on Sunday. Much better. If your a fan of the positional flip flop today should bring some interesting takes on the NewLooks. Its one game but in a wider lens... thats now 4 of 5 that the Pacers have taken from the NewLooks. Two things for sure... Lebron won't get maximum days off and rest between series and Lance Stevenson is going to remain under the normally unflappable James skin.
- Hinkies vs Heat... The Hinkies clobbered the Heat. They took Whiteside out of the game and did pretty much whatever they wanted to. Simmons .. Saric... Covington ... Reddick were throwing haymakers all night and took the Heat down rather easily in the 2nd Half. They were able to do this on the back of 65% shooting from the arc. Yes.. 65%..and not 2 of 3 type shooting ... No.. the Hinks put up and rained down 18 of 28. Impressive. If they can do that every night then the talk of a clean run to the finals with no losses is warranted... .but they can't and its not. The Heat will show better in game 2... Spolestra is too good a coach not to make some changes and the Hinkies will not make close to 20 threes tonight. Game 2 will be much closer.
- ChowderHeads vs.Bucks. Two last minute hail mary shots ..and both got made....Middletons by far the most unlikely with less than half a second to go sent the most closely matched teams to overtime. The Bucks ,despite 30 points from Kris Middleton, are a one man team. Its Sherriff Alphabet and his deputies. The Bucks will go as far as Giannas can take them. The Chowderheads are the sum of their parts. No one part is going to dominate but collectively they get it done..... Their advantage is that one guy out of Horford/Brown/Tatum and Morris can be off and they can still win. If Giannas is off the Bucks are done....But those 3 guys have to be really going well to counter Sheriff Alphabet. Should be a great series... Still think it goes the full 7.
ONE GAME TONIGHT ... Heat vs Hinkies Erica Spolstra is a very good coach.. not that Brett Brown isn't ...but the ball so to speak is with Eric Spolestra on how he lines up the troops after a 30 point loss and coach Spo usually delivers. Not sure how much he changes his game plan as the Hinks won by shooting a likely unrepeatable (at least tonight) 65% from three where the Heats counter to the rainstorm of threes was to put up a robust 18 points in the pivotal 3rd quarter. That was when the game was determined... and the Heat came a bad second.
Can the Heat shoot better tonight. Probably. Will the Hinkies shoot even close to that 65%. Very very very Unlikely. Can coach Spoelstra reach into his bag of tricks and find a way to tune his defense to trap more and get the Hinks to turn the ball over to get to the desired transition game. Yes.
So betting on a trifecta tonight. The Hinks miss a few and shoot closer to their seasonal average from 3. Dragic plays better than he did on Saturday. A young team on a 17 game win streak hits a speedbump eventually. Coach Spo finds a way.

I remember the last couple of seasons where the Cavs just came out in the playoffs and rained down threes and no one, other than the Warriors (at least in one series), could keep up with them. It looked great and felt unstoppable but Sunday demonstrated what happens when the threes aren't raining down and your defense still sucks. Three years ago, I thought the Cavs would have beat the Warriors if Irving had not got hurt in game 1 and I think his absence was felt yesterday when there was nowhere to go for offense but Lebron kicking it to guys who couldn't shoot.Demographic Shift wrote: View Post

I still see the Cavs winning. They got the game back to 7 twice (potentially 6 if Love hit a free throw) after getting spanked all night. If the Pacers missed a shot they could have brought it down to 3 or 4 and it would have been a game.
Their biggest issue was that they just got cold.. pretty much right away. LBJ was trying to get his guys going early and they didn't have it. Same could have happened to the Raptors against Washington. Luckily the guys we don't generally rely on like Delon, DeMar and Siakam all shot 3's well. OG was really good early on.
If you can't make your threes your going to have to rely on your defense.. The Cavs are not very good there so they lost.
Indiana is scrappy and will play hard.. but the Cavs had a lot of clean looks. I hope it goes down to 6 or 7 games either way.Comment

If Love is at the 5 .. Myles Turner is quick enough and big enough to stay with him. Turner might have an advantage ... maybe not.. but he isn't going to wonder what truck ran over him against Love. Turner holds his own and then some.
At the 4 its Nance or Thompson going up against Thad Young. I like Young against those guys. Consummate pro and he is the kind of serious vet that shows up in the playoffs. If Love rotates back to the 4 its OK as Tuner follows him and Thaddeus Young has either of Nance or Tristan TMZ Thompson.
Lebron is going to get his. He did Sunday.. triple double...but.. it was <30 on points. Think the villian Lance Stevenson is just enough of a distraction to keep Optimus Prime from zoning in. Never bet against Lebron. Never... but maybe this time he pays out less than a normal bet with Lance dogging him every step of the way. Look for Lebron to play north of 44 minutes a game this series. Not because he wants to.. because he needs to.
Much like in reality. despite Stevenson, Indy has no answer for Lebron the reciprocal is also true in that Cleveland has no answer for Olidipo. Hood or Hill or JR Smith can't stay with him... So for me at least its can Stevensons efforts on Lebron outweigh the efforts that the NewLooks can put on Olidpio. Gapping analysis says that the Pacers come out ahead just by a bit on this one. Mix in that Ty Lue a good man isn't at his best right now... that Lebrons supporting cast isn't up to what he has had in the past....And thats what might.. possibly... on a clear day with no wind.... tip this series to the Pacers..The Heart is all in on the Pacers .. The head is still bettin Lebron.
Game 2 on Wedensday is pretty big. Indy has home court right now... if they leave Clevleand 2 up... Well... the Heat found a way to win last night. How did they do it ? They got a game from Dwayne Wade, they got to the free throw line and made their shots there and they shot close to 50% from the floor. There was that and…. after scorching the Heat from three in game one…. the Hinkies had an abrupt regression to the mean and shot less than 20% from the arc. 7 of 36. Ouch.
So the Heat get the split they were after and head back to South Beach tied 1-1 and while it’s not going to show up in the statistical analysis…. they also took a little of the swagger away that a 17 game win streak imparts… With Joel Embiid iffy for game 3…the Hinkies have their work cut out for them on the road.

Whizzers at the Raps. With John Wall “getting whatever I wanted” and putting up a sizzling 6 of 20 the Raps should let Mr. Humble have more of what he wants. At this writing Freddy is still questionable and its unlikely he plays tonight. Other than that the Raps are pretty healthy 1 through 11. The Wiz on the other side of the coin are kinda nicked up. Wall is coming off knee surgery, Porter has an ankle that’s giving him issues and Morris rolled on his ankle late in game 1. They will all go but they are not 100% and the Wiz need to be at 100% to have a chance. The Raps probably won’t turn it over 17 times and they probably won’t shoot 52% from three either. Expect that the defensive effort will be there tonight as the nerves recede with that game 1 win. The selfless Wall should shoot better getting everything he wants but the rest of the Wiz’s nicked up starters show it and with an amped up defensive effort the Raps put up a professional win and take down the Wiz. They leave for DC up 2 games.
On the Whistle tonight are Mike Callahan (#24) Courtney Kirkland (#61) Tom Washington (#49)... a fair draw for the Raps.
Bucks at Chowderheads Overtime in game 1 is an illustration of how close this series is. The Celtics found enough offence to win.. They found it at FT line with 24 points and from 3 where they shot almost 50%. Still even with that they won shooting a pretty tepid 41% overall from the field. Don’t expect that to change much. Offense by committee is how the Celtics without Irving are going to do it. The Bucks got 30 plus points each from the Alphabet and Kris Middleton. Middleton won’t get 30 tonight but then Jabari Parker should do better than a deuce. The Alphabet felt he got boned on the whistle so he is as motivated as they come for tonight. Again the narrative repeats itself… The best player on the floor up against offence by committee and with a little help from Parker and Middleton… the Alphabet squares the series.
