Is Stojakovic a trade piece or something more?

This is Triano's take on Peja role: "'Probably situational right now but I don’t think I want to close the book on him,' Triano said of Stojakovic. 'We’ve got to find a way for him to fit into our rotation and if he does that and knocks down shots, he’s going to help us.'"
If Peja plays then it comes at the expense of Weems or Kleiza. I personally don't want to see that.

Toronto is actually ranked 3rd last in 3pt made this season...
so peja will help us there... for a bit anyway.
sure we can probably trade his 15 mil expiring contract away for a better player with a longer contract,
but with the new CBA, holding on to Peja, especially if he plays well, might be a better option for the team.
Personally, i think he will be traded though, because there's too much of a logjam in the wing position with kleiza, weems, derozan all capable of playing the SF, and peja can't really play the 4, he might be the odd man out.

Yah, it might be to early to start thinking in terms of making this team into a winner and maybe Peja would serve us better by being traded for another pick. I guess I dislike giving up a guy of his experience and talent if there is a chance he might sign long term with us for small money. Former All-NBA second team guys on expiring deals don't fall into your lap everyday and if he can't be turned into a good first rounder or something along those lines I'd just as soon keep him."Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival."

I think that he is a bit more then "just" a trade piece. He is an excellent three point shooter. It will be nice to have a consistent shooter. I see him helping everyone on the team.
You can never have too many veterans on the wing for our wing players. It will be positive for the whole team and if it does not go well, trade him. It is a very good situation for the raptors.

New Orleans was in talks to use Peja as a key piece in possible deals for the likes of Igoudala. I am really doubtful of the reality of those proposed deals since I don't think enough was being offered for AI.
I am in no way advocating for getting Igoudala, but am merely stating that his expiring contract is seen as a legitimate trading chip by a lot of teams. If the Nuggets or 76ers do choose to part with their star players they will most likely need a third team involved in the trade to make numbers work. It might be possible for us to steal a draft pick or a young player in a deal like that.
Ideally, Peja is used to bring in a draft pick and young player. If we can get a first rounder for him, that would be wonderful!

THis raptor team is looking better...and much better thanks to the latest trade!!bc your'e the main man in this organization and i thank you for pulling the trigger on this one.Stoyakovic will do wonders in the locker room and if he can sink some timely 33333's this team will surely rally around him and just maybe...spark this team to greater heights!!!and brother's and sister's..I BELIEVE!!!

Peja was used 6 minutes tonight. I don't think he will be a huge part of this team unless he earns some time with unusually good play. When more games are played and we see how he is utilized we can start drawing conclusions, but for right now, I can only see him used situationally. Peja is a unique talent. We haven't had a 3-point specialist on this team in a while. I think Triano will use him more when they draft some plays for him.Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

Did Charles Oakley and Antonio Davis help toughen up Vince?

I don't think they made him any tougher but they called him out on all his weak B.S. without blinking an eye. They held him accountable always and that's on the court and in the media. Oakley in particular. He was the best thing to ever happen to Vince and when they went their separate ways Vince never could reach that same personal on court heights. Damn do the Raptors ever need a true leader like Oakley again. I think Noah has the potential to carry himself like Oak did. Too bad he's not in Toronto.

more than 3's
Everyone keeps referring to Peja's ability to hit the 3. A key play that stood out to me from the last game was when he had the ball on the wing near the raptors bench (i think he had the smaller Holiday checking him), and he did a few jab steps and then rose over top of him and sank a sweet mid range jumper. Peja has indicated that he's healthy (not sure if that's lip service or actual fact), but I could see them going to him in late game situations. He's proven that he score in big games and I really think they can utilize him in the current system. I'm also an advocate of bringing him back at a reasonable rate for next year. The 12 million remaining on the trade exception is enough to bring back sufficient talent/value through trade. How many new players (and at what price) do we want in this lineup. At this point I'd go against trading him away, but there is still a lot of basketball to be played and chips to fall. You can only commit to so many guys long term. I'd like to see Bayless, Demar, Sonny, Andrea, and Amir/Ed as those guys. The rest of the lineup should be focussed on role players or veterans that fit the system. Peja could very well be a good fit.
I thought about how Peja compares to Kapono, and if you think about it his skills blow JK out of the water. He is more than a 3pt shooter (probably with similar defensive ability) .. but during crunch time, I think he could prove a valuable asset.
