Wow. Rondo and Dallas crew are barely keeping up with Spurs bench right now.

Just thought I'd post this after the trade deadline came and went without any moves by MU.

When this trade went down 2 months ago, some were anointing Dallas as a title favourite. Things haven't worked out as well as many of us believed. Among what Dallas gave Ainge was a 1st round pick and Brandon Wright, who was flipped by Ainge for another 1st rounder.

The harsh reality, though, is that Rondo hasn't had many good nights since arriving in Dallas as the featured attraction in a blockbuster deal on Dec. 18.
Rondo always has been a subpar jump shooter, and he's not been nearly as dangerous off the dribble since his comeback from a serious knee injury, with his field goal percentage hovering just over 40 percent the past two seasons.
The Mavs have been a much better defensive team with Rondo, but their improvement on that end of the floor hasn't been as drastic as their offensive drop-off.

If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

Saw this a couple of weeks ago:

Speaks to the playing chemistry change (at least) which occurs when an important cog is introduced. Rondo has also been benched in the 4th qtr which is incredible. They miss Brandon Wright as well.

The Mavericks have an impressive starting five on paper, unfortunately it takes more than an impressive list of names to top the best teams that the NBA has to offer. This isn’t NBA 2K, where the best collection of talent usually wins out.
This quote from the linked story seems to fit the Miami team now.

Dragic is a better fit in Miami than Rondo in Dallas, but there is no guarantee things will work out as well for the Heat as we may think.

I think in the long run it can be a very good move IF Wade is willing to become their 6th man.

I still think Dallas is way, way better off with Rondo than without. 23 games isn't much of a sample, and even then they're 14-9 with wins in Memphis and Cleveland.

The kind of veteran intensity and competitiveness they'll reap from Rondo will be massive in the playoffs. They'll figure it out. Only dicey matchup for them is OKC because of KD, they can tangle with anyone else.
