Prior to the trades I was saying that I didn't think any one player that we traded for could turn our D around. Little did I know MU had two defensive specialists lined up in his cross hairs. Still have to wait for the honeymoon period to wear off, but things are looking good right now.

Anyone have any idea what the cap space looks like for next season? What teams have cap space? What teams would be willing to take a contract like Carroll's, CoJo's or even JV's without giving much back in return?
Personal preference of course is to bring them all back.. it ain't my money.
But if Masai had to make a decision and can't find a trade partner for DC, CJ or JV then I suspect 2Pat and Tucker will be playing on new teams next year.

I really feel like if we can keep these 3 guys by shedding Corey and Carroll then somehow turning Val + our pick (or multiple) into that final piece we just may be right there. I'm not sure who that last piece is but it would need to be from the SF or preferably PF position as I think Ibaka is becoming a perfect small ball C that is used defensively and rebounding like Tristan but with a lot more offensive game. Not saying ATL would do this or that this is ideal but just as matter of playing around ideas I wonder what a line up of...
Lowry
DD
Tucker
Millsap (Corey + JV and maybe a 1st in a S&T, ultimate all in move)
Ibaka
Imagine putting this in between Tucker and Ibaka....
Don't forget Paul can ball offensively....he's had some monster games this year
Our window would only be the next couple of years but it's hard to argue this wouldn't be the best we could hope for. That line up would be insanely difficult to deal with defensively and with Sap AND Ibaka we have more than enough offensively. Interesting idea at least...

Tucker and Ibaka help stop the bleeding from time to time but its a band-aid solution and its clearly systematic problem. It looks to be an up and down season the rest of the way as well as a seesaw in the playoffs. Not sure if its just the player personal or the coach but in previous years Masai said it was the players, maybe this time around he can't put the entire blame on them if we are looking at an early exit from the playoffs.
The sample size is way too small, but in the three games with the new guys (way short on practice time, Lowry out, and it was 3 games in 4 nights), the opp FG% and DRTG have improved. Opp FG% these three games is 11th in the league.
