Pacers selling high on Sabonis and snagging Halliburton is another… outlier?
Yes. Having a few examples from a history of dozens or hundreds of sell high trades still means those are outliers.

The concept of selling high is not new. It very, very occasionally makes a real difference to the future of a franchise. And probably just as often, you hold onto a player you maybe should have traded by that logic (DeRozan before 17-18, Lowry at several stages of pending UFA) and it pays off too.

Yeah, well apparently we could've had Maxey (yet another young, future all-star) for an expiring Lowry, if Masai/Bobby weren't so hung up on Thybulle (wingspan, poor shooter, good D). There's another young star that was right there for the taking.

You're acting like these trade opportunities are once-in-a-lifetime. And trading Lowry wasn't even selling high at the time... he was a rental. Sheesh, what a collosal fail.

              • Dillon Brooks has single-handedly turned Houston into a top 3 defense. Yes, a top 3 defense. On a team that starts pylons like Jalen Green and Sengun.

Brooks is also shooting 46.4% from 3. And he's a dawg. Crazy AF... but still a dawg.

Brooks makes $21.5M AAV, if we're comping to OG.

Brooks ia guarding all 5 players at once?
How about the coaching staff's contribution?

OG doesn't guard 5 players at once. lol. Talk about over-valuing your own players. And if OG's defense was better than Brooks, then why is Houston #3 and Raps only 11th? That's middle of the pack.

And OG isn't even leading his own team in D-EPM. It's Scottie at +3.1, OG at +1.8, and Brooks at +2.2. And like I said.... Brooks plays with straight up defensive pylons, whereas OG has above-average to elite defenders as teammates.

With OG leading the charge, and the Raps defensive personnel... they should be top 3 in defense... at least. How do we all feel about paying OG $40M/year for a middle of the pack defense?

Our defense would be bottom of the league without OG.

Of all things to harp on this season, you want to slag OG. Make it make sense.

Why does it have to be on OG?

Why not recognize Udoka's impact on the team instead of attributing it solely on Brooks.

Talk about not making sense. OG is only +1.6 impact in D-EPM. Not even the best on his team.... and literally half the impact of Scottie.

If OG's impact was as massive as you imply, then he should be at something like +5.0 D-EPM. And once again, compared to Dillon Brooks, OG is not carrying defensive scrubs. The opposite, in fact: OG has a plethora of above-average, to elite defensive teammates.

Look at our starting lineup. Raps have no defensive weak link in the starters, in comparison to Rockets, who have 2 straight up sieves (Green & Sengun), plus Fred (who grades out negative this year) and Jabari Smith (who appears to be average).

Not slagging on OG here, but questioning whether OG at $40M AAV is good value for his impact... is fair game.

Who is our above average POA defender?

Depending on who the "attacker" is... Raps have more choices than almost any other team.

Don't say Scottie coz he obviously is not supposed to be it.
