That seems fair-ish. He had a good first half. He had a terrible second half. Give him a C, right in the middle. Btw, this trend of being terrible in the second half is alarming.
Raptors can't play with the lead. They're scared. They quit running the offense and go ISO to avoid turnovers. Shockingly, it doesn't work when the guys trying to execute this are shooting 30%.

Here we are 15 months later, and absolutely nothing has changed. DeRozan's decision-making over the last 2 weeks is probably the worst it's been in his career. Excruciating to watch. At least as a rookie, he knew he couldn't shoot and only took 6.5 shots a game.

          • I was a big believer in asset retention all season, but DeMar is making me forget about that really, really fast.

Driving 10.3 times per game, shooting 34.1%, scoring 4.4 points per game off drives, passing out 3.1 times per game and turning it over .9 times per game.

so is this still true? has there been any improvement in his decision making of drives compared to long twos?

Raw counts wouldn't tell the story.

Time remaining on the shot clock, how many dribbles taken before the shot, how many teammates touched the ball, the current score, knowledge of who's hot/not, how closely guarded he is, etc., all factor into his shitty decision making.

He's using 10.3 possessions to create 4.4 points. That's really bad. He's driving into triple teams and forcing shots.

                    DeMar is taking:

6 shots per game off 3-6 dribbles. 37% eFG.
4.2 shots per game off 7+ dribbles. 21.1% eFG.
3.1 shots a game in very tight defense. 14.3% eFG.
10.4 shots per game in tight defense. 30.9% eFG.
6.4 shots per game in tight defense, more than 10ft from the basket. 25.9% eFG.
10.8 shots per game on pull ups, 32.0% eFG.

                    His eFG% by touch time:
                    <2 seconds: 45.7%.(6.4 per game)
                    2-6 seconds: 32.1%.(9.3 per game)
                    6+ seconds: 23.8%.(4.7 per game)

DeMar is doing a lot of things perfectly awful on offense.

And there goes my breakfast again.

I think my favorite thing about the last couple games has been the clear cut examples of how bad derozan is.

Example 1: Lowry drains a half court shot to tie the game. Derozan dribbles instead of swinging the ball, he dribbles it off himself leading into a turnover to lose the game.

Example 2: JV goes beast mode to keep the raps in the game, getting a ridiculous tip in off a missed free throw... Derozan, down a game on homecourt lets Deng blow by him for an easy dunk in the final moments of game 2.

                      • I remember Masai at the beginning of the year on Tim and Sid. They asked him "What would it take for DD to get a huge pay day from the raptors?". Masai said "Win, just win"

Might as well pay James Johnson the max because we are winning...

Did masai anticipate 7 raptor role players dragging Demars carcass to wins in the playoffs?

In all honesty, did any of us expect to see this?

We have to remind ourselves to take a step back and realize we're witnessing historical levels of futility by our "stars".
