Yea like Tobias Harris. But look what they got for Tobias Harris. Teams are starting to get really smart with cap management nowadays. There is only one New York and one New Orleans.
For whatever reason, they WANTED that package back for Harris. They were stupid to make that move. Also, trying to trade a player in-season when teams are capped out and the following off season when teams are flush with cap room are two very, very different scenarios.

Seems highly unli ... you know, screw it ... I hope you're right.

The issue is his confidence isn't shot. He's settling.
I interpret the settling as a lack of confidence. No confidence he can beat his man off the dribble, and no confidence he can earn whistles.

Unless he's settling because he's lazy, but that seems to contradict his reputation as a hard worker.

        You meant 1-19, right?

18 missed shots wouldn't even be his playoff high, lol.
Scary part is, it's not even like, really close to his playoff high.

He's "settling" because he's playing against locked in, well coached, disciplined and prepared defenders who back off him and won't fall for his tricks, spins and pump fakes anymore. I think the first time his Harden-"show the ball and rip through the defender's arms" trick worked was against McBob last game. His euro step finishing move hasn't gotten him any space or calls (other than the time Dragic's chin fouled him). Shit, his most effective move at drawing a foul has been a long 2 where Deng crowds his landing.

I actually took the settling to be more because he's not getting the same calls he was getting during the Regular season when driving.

Deamr's Game 5 shooting numbers. Lets predict them
                I think he'll go

                10/19 fg
                1/3 from deep
                7/9 from the line

                28 points

                28p/7r/4a/3s
He's basically had one good scoring game the entire playoffs (game 5 vs Indiana), so maybe he is due but at this point it'll be random luck if it happens.

You do realize he is a couple of missed shots away from your claim being actually true in these playoffs right.

Also, I think people missed another gem from DD's post game interview yesterday.

He said and I quote "I'm not gonna shoot 4-17 again"

                    • The Heat haven't been playing amazing defense against him... off screens he's getting huge lanes to drive but he's in love with that INFALLIBLE "I'll never shoot this bad again" mid range jumper of his.

                        And that.
He's become so slow going north-south, he can't attack the basket against a focused defense. He overdribbles, pulls the ball back out coming off a screen, and doesn't have the quickness to take a guy off the bounce. And before we hear the "he's facing good defenders" excuse, 34 year old Dwyane Wade is blowing by Demarre Carroll and whoever else the Raptors throw at him multiple times per game.

There's a reason the NBA loves certain body types and elite athleticism, even in raw guys and borderline headcases - you can't defend against that elite physical talent. DeRozan is very guardable.

For those concerned with having to take back junk salary in a later trade of DeMar...

Keep in mind, there is ANOTHER cap boom next summer. There will be teams that strike out on free agents, and have max cap room, and maybe would rather trade picks/prospects for DeMar using their cap space to facilitate the deal rather than trying to match salaries and play over the cap.
That is too big of a maybe. If the picks and prospects are high value then you aren't likely to trade them for DD In all likelihood the Raptors will have to take multiple bad player's salaries to match and this isn't a good thing. The Raptors already have 4 first round draft picks in the next year or so and currently enough prospects (Delon, Powell, Bruno and Bebe) to develop, so adding more prospects/draft picks at this stage is counterproductive when you are trying to win.

How about the "he's not Wade" excuse?

Carroll's D has definitely been inconsistent but Wade has been incredible, however old he is.

                            • Let's take a closer look at the highlight of the night.

How clumsy do you have to be to dribble RIGHT, and bounce it off your LEFT foot? This is highly unique case. I'm not sure how DeRozan hasn't managed to hurt himself climbing stairs with those duck feet.

EDIT: He didn't even dribble it off his foot, as I first thought. He flat out ran into the ball, like he didn't know it was there, LMAO.

Exactly. He's not 34 year old Dwyane Wade but he's used (overused) like one and due for a max contract. The fact that he's "not Wade" is everything that's wrong with this situation...

DeMar isn't Wade and the franchise needs to stop pretending he is.
