Keep in mind, there is ANOTHER cap boom next summer. There will be teams that strike out on free agents, and have max cap room, and maybe would rather trade picks/prospects for DeMar using their cap space to facilitate the deal rather than trying to match salaries and play over the cap.
If we're talking late picks, role players, flexibility....that's not great value for a max contract. I don't feel the need to sign DeMar to a max deal just to get some unspectacular assets back later down the line.

I'm in the "not that good camp"
These shooting numbers arent surprising
There sure is a lot more going on than missing a few shots per game because of a sprained thumb. He didn't even have the sprained thumb in round 1."We're playing in a building." -- Kawhi Leonard

ok, right now, I'm all in favour of letting Demar walk this offseason. No way in hell one can justify paying him in the vicinity of 25M per year. Paying him that much money was a scary proposition for me before the playoffs began. No "we can't let as asset walk for nothing" or "we can trade him later for something" is gonna change my mind. Derozan playing like regular season Derozan may change my mind, but that's very unlikely to happen.
