It's hard to label one-dimensional players as "franchise players". Mutumbo was a great defensive player, but I've never heard anyone refer to him as a franchise player. And Biyombo has a long way to go before he ever reaches Mutumbo's accolades.

If Biyombo is considered a franchise centre or a 1st NBA all defensive team in the next three years, I will streak down Yonge street. He is nowhere near as versatile as JV. Why are we even debating this? For still frame photograph of me reading the DeRozan thread please refer to my avatar

...like Biyombo's game, looking forward to JV's arrival.

Biyombos athleticism is the only thing that puts him ahead of Valanciunas and players dont excel purely on athletism (see Tyrus Thomas, Sean Williams, Hasheem Thabeet etc.) so sometimes it's better to draft less athletic players, but with better fundamentals and there's a better chance of them becoming high impact nba players

No way Biyombo ever becomes that, because the only way he'll be a starter on a contending team is if he is put with teammates who are well above average offensively in order to make up for his deficiencies.
On the other hand I think it's way too early to say that JV is a franchise center, but he's got a much better shot at it than Biyombo. He's got a very versatile skillset that would allow him to excel in a lot of different situations.
