  • Indiana signs David West

    nice pickup

    Hibbert
    West
    GRanger/George
    Granger/George
    Collison

Power forward David West has agreed to a two-year, $20 million deal with the Indiana Pacers, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

A former first-round selection, West has played his entire eight-year career with the New Orleans Hornets. West holds solid numbers, averaging 16.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game over his career.

The 31-year-old forward, who is coming off knee surgery, is a quality signing for the Pacers if he can stay healthy. West will likely start at power forward for a Pacers team that went 37-45 last season and made the playoffs for the first time in five years.

Indiana will be able to snag down more bricks that Granger throws up.

Neither West or Hibbert are great rebounders. It will be interesting to see what happens.

although, that may be true you can't deny the fact that they will pull odwn twice as many rebounds as last season on average.

        I must be missing something.

West rebounds at 7.6 per game.

Hansbrough as a starter was 6.3 rpg.

McRoberts as a starter was 5.5 rpg.

Either way, it is not a huge deal for Indiana. At least they are not caught in a 5 year deal as most teams throw at 31 year old former all stars coming off a major injury. If the deal turns out to be a bad one in hindsight, the contract will be over before they know it.

David West isn't going to help them accomplish anything more than some added seat sales but then again maybe that's their goal.
