  • Well, honestly, if the guy ever listened to what the people want and expect he would not have to face attacks like this. He's got to go down in history as one of the fastest falling presidents in US history and now he's about to lose the Senate as his staffers jump ship. Nobody even wanted him to help them campaign, he's that volatile.

I've even seen worse than this one above though. Some are referring to him as "Obola".

    • I think you may remember me cautioning about fear mongering statements made by politicians (US) re this disease. I have no problems with cogent arguments (even very partisan ones) made by opposing political forces. But then comes along a disease incubated in Africa, one death in America and many in Africa and never is a chance missed it seems to attach a fearsome subject to Obama.

And yes I have seen/heard other purely racist depictions and taunts of this president.

I am curious about your "if the guy ever listened to what the people want...." as being reason enough to come up with the depictions they do. And what do you think people want in the US that the opposition can provide?

      • They want the borders secured, the flights to West Africa stopped and a quarantine period of 21 days on Americans returning from West Africa.
All these things can be signed in by way of presidential executive order.

In terms of justifying the jabs some Americans are making at the president by way of signs and other media, no, I'm not going to do that. It's irrelevant to the issue. Bottom line, the Benghazi scandal, aiding terrorists in Syria, arming the drug cartels in Mexico with thousands of weapons, ignoring the authority of Congress with regard to attacks on Libya, drone killing Americans abroad, Obamacare, etc the hate should be unsurprising. In fact there is more than enough to warrant impeachment and they may do it now that the power shift just occurred in the Senate.

        • Pardon the length (or verbosity) but I wanted to provide enough clarity to explain my responses.

They want the borders secured, the flights to West Africa stopped and a quarantine period of 21 days on Americans returning from West Africa.

All these things can be signed in by way of presidential executive order.
One of the biggest bugaboos for the opposition Republican coalition is the administration's use of the OBama presidential exec. order, a process which of course is used by all presidents. Cant have it both ways now can we...but yes he can but wont unless absolutely necessary? Why cant Congress pass a law? Thats what they do. Is it possible they dont want to be blamed for any possible fallout?

"Securing the borders" is a myth...it is not sustainable nor completely foolproof ...physically/geographically too imposing and practically too expensive.

          Excerpt and link below:

"Here’s why: The U.S. has about 7,000 miles of land border, 95,000 miles of shoreline and thousands of airports. There’s no way this vast expanse can ever be truly secure. In addition to illegal migrants, more than 50 million tourists arrive legally in the U.S. each year, some of whom overstay their visas."

          For more detail:

          http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-0...re-border.html

          Re the Ebola quaratine:

"President Barack Obama, despite an earlier statement that he doesn’t have a “philosophical objection” to a travel ban, seemed to rule one out in his weekly radio address Saturday.

“We can’t just cut ourselves off from West Africa, where this disease is raging,” he said. “Trying to seal off an entire region of the world—if that were even possible—could actually make the situation worse. It would make it harder to move health workers and supplies back and forth. Experience shows that it could also cause people in the affected region to change their travel, to evade screening, and make the disease even harder to track.”

Re the 21 days quarantine (for those without any symptoms)...not only does the science to-date and record not support it but the courts in Maine seem to have ruled against it at least for American citizens. Not sure but an executive order could also be struck down just like the state law enacted in NY/NJ. As we already know, even contact/close proximity to the infected ...the Liberian's family in Dallas, the 2 nurses (taking a flight and cruise) and the returning doctor in NY (from W Africa) who went to among other places a bowling alley have not resulted in any further infections. Coming in contact with fluid from a Ebola patient is what is dangerous.

All to say that a great many Americans have been frightened by reports (some irresponsible) and want the harshest of responses. The US is supposed to be a world leader in many aspects. Imposing panic laws/remedies before absolutely necessary would then create more world panic and other unintended problems.

In this part of your response you write you did not want to justify the jabs but then go on to mention a few reasons (???). Allow me to address the issues you raise ...and possibly impeachable offenses for the delusional.

Benghazi: ...and what of it?...there have been all manner of costly and bi-partisan inquiries into how that unfortunate event occurred. Bottom line: could those deaths have been avoided? How? By whom? Wish there were some real inquiries into what was the travesty run up to the Iraq war fostered by many of the same hypocrites demanding an inquisition on this event. There were some serious numbers in deaths, injuries and trillion $ spending resulting from that war of choice based on yet other unnecessary fear mongering rhetoric. Anyone get to trial for that? Obama could have made it an issue after he took over. He passed and rightly so with all the pressing problems the country faced, created by the same people who took the country to war.

Aiding the terrorists in Syria: I keep hearing this...can you provide an article (with some indication of proof and not neocon inspired please) link on the subject? The Obama admin. for the longest time (to their detriment and policy of not wanting to be in another m-e war) stayed away from military aid specifically for this reason. But if they did go into the viper pit recently... with the number of actors there against Assad this would likely happen. Are you sure these arms were not captured by isis types from the moderates as they did in Iraq from the Iraq army? To then assume that this was somehow intentional or grossly incompetent on the part of the WH shows how toxic the partisanship is on the issues. Again, I shall raise Iraq...these same critics sat by while worse and overt mistakes were made in Iraq...Chalabi supposrt, dismantling the army, Speedball, arming Saddam in the first place against Iran, the Niger uranium fiasco etc etc...and yes the missing WMDs.

Arming the drug cartel: Did you know that this program/s began under the George Bush Admin.? Ever hear anyone blame him? Did Fox News run an expose on DOJ then? You know how bureaucracies work. Once a govt program begins a mini fiefdom is created and takes on a life of its own. Not rying to absolve this admin. but balance from the critics would be nice. Please read:

          http://www.cbsnews.com/news/a-primer...rious-scandal/

Congressional approval re Libya: Another case of selective outrage.

Here is a piece written by 2 members of the Reagan & Bush admins. who say Obama did not have to get approval...

          http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinio...MQB_story.html

Drone killing Americans abroad: While I philosophically seek all methods short of violence to solve any issue ...if I am absolutely sure a citizen who lives abroad has practised/planned mass destruction and is unavailable to be detained for a trial then using the drone method/cruse missile is self defense. This is my macro position without knowing whether the entire program is being properly managed. I am frankly surprised that conservatives consider this an issue...it would be though for the very leftwing of constitutional law interpreters.

Obamacare: Really now.I believe It doesnt even go as far as the health law after which it was modelled and set up by that flaming socialist Mitt Romney when Gov. of Mass.

I assume you as well do not agree with Obamacare. As a Canadian (another assumption) you do appreciate and use the "socialist" Canada health system? If so, why wouldn't you like the US citizen to have a similar one?

The "hate" I am afraid is always fostered by generally the badly or un-informed which would include those who also believe that Obama was not born in the US, is really a muslim, a socialist/communist (they dont know the difference and he is neither). Of course lets not forget that many have not yet woken up from their personal nightmare of having a black man sleep in Abe's bedroom.

The Impeachment thing: Oh my. Lets use the nuclear option because it's there! Seriously? You must be aware of the thresholds for impeachment. I assume if one wants to impeach they would also believe they have a decent chance to convict. I wont bore you with the details but to convict the senate needs 66 ayes. And unless I am totally out to lunch no Democrat senator would vote in favour of this absurdity. And a few sensible Republicans would vote no. So, a big fail. I wonder what the imaginary "treason, bribery, high crime and misdemeanor" choice would be? An utter waste of time when the country/DC will be paralyzed by that effort....to what end?

It is a good thing though that America is a vast and complex phenomena of a country. It was this which allowed the first black President to be elected. He is not without faults and personally, I am disappointed with his results... though not those you list. I see him as having squandered his political capital by not being bold...very bold.

Finally, he actually does have many accomplishments and his country, if one drills down, is doing much better now than the blowback of events he had to manage when he first took over in 2009. But this post is already too long

              • Ok I have had just about enough of this Ebola shit. You guys need to detach from the Matrix and learn why you are hearing so much about this disease..... its called shock value and its there as a smokescreen while other serious shit happens worldwide in the Government buildings of the first world.

I know things can sound scary, and its ok to be concerned, but guys, mostly, people who control media like to fuck with your head, its very real, and its really, really shady.

Wanna put it in perspective..... remember AIDS?

                • Ebola has been around for a while. We are just hearing about it now and its not as much of a risk to us as things like Cancer and AIDs as SuperJudge said. Its just being blown way out of proportion

                  • I had Ebola and it wasn't that bad. Get some Nyquil and watch Netflix till it passes.

                    • I have to admit, when it hit the US I was pretty freaked out by how they handled it in Texas (all the mistakes and lack of travel restrictions to the healthcare workers helping the infected, etc) but it appears so far, that Ebola is still only a 3rd world significant risk.

I guess you drank lots of Gatorade to counter the blood coming out of every hole on you body?

The thing about Ebola is that it kills everybody fairly equally. Some of the others on the list tend to infect the old and weak. They also tend to kill the old and weak more so than the strong. Ebola can kill anybody and everybody who gets it. If it spread like the flu it would be the most dangerous thing man ever encountered.

A bottle of Purell stops the spread in non- third world countries. A deadly communicable disease is an evolutionary impossibillty for a virus.

I'm not discounting the danger of it, don't get me wrong. Its incredibly deadly but what i'm saying is that the chance of it actually spreading like the flu or AIDs is quite slim. Lets just hope it stays that way...

                          • The guy who discovered it and researched if first, his name escapes me, he was sounding the alarm that mutations were a real possibility to turn this thing into an airborne virus. The longer it runs wild in Africa, the higher the chances of a dangerous mutation occurring.

Virus need live host to reproduce. Its counterproductive for Ebola to become highly contagious.

                              • I know the Spanish flu, which killed up to 100 million, spread during the great war but if you've ever ridden the train or subway in a major metropolitan area you know how packed in you can get during rush hour. I actually stopped riding the train and started battling traffic last year because I grew tired of being a sardine and having people coughing and sneezing in my face in close quarters.
