what about gtj for sexton and their pick this year... and something else. for the salaries to match.
Certainly this move will give the Raptors more options and more balance to the roster moving forward.

Too much money. We need to reduce what we spend on 6th man role. Pascal, Fred, and OG will all be getting large new contracts soon. Trent for expiring and a lotto draft pick is ideal.

Why giving up on trents D? He was considered bad then last year good. The guys a baller works hard and will only get better on both sides. We will regret trading Trent. There were moments the last few games where everyone except trent was afraid to shoot. Hes got 4-5 years of steady improvement ahead. 80% of teams wont be confident enough he’ll stay to give much for him. He seems to like it here. If he were FA we’d wish we could get him.

Toronto trades GTJ and their 2023 first round pick (top 10 protected) for Sexton, Cavs 14th pick and Cedi Osman?! That sounds a bit better but the Cavs would want more. Maybe Raptors will need to throw in their 2022 2nd round pick as well.

OG's new deal just started this year officially so we have another two-three seasons before we gotta worry about OG. I would Extend Pascal two years which would one up perfectly and then also it allows him to reup again under the new CBA rules.

They may be but we won't have money to resign them if we're paying Sexton $20+M per year.
Fred & OG for Lonzo, Caruso and Pat Williams + picks is an example of a deal that helps reset our long-term cap and replace most of what Fred & OG bring almost immediately.
Fred is a rich man’s 6th man, combo guard. OG is a switchable 3&D, which is becoming more available these days.

Not true. Sexton is great at scoring. Check the numbers: other than last season’s small sample before he got injured…. he’s elite.
But deal-wise, Gary and maybe a 2nd round pick for Collin should be the price.
He has negative winshares last year and his shooting has decreased every single year he has been in the league from 3. Overall he is closer to being inefficient. I think for what GTJ does I would rather have GTJ. The whole point of trading him to Cleveland is to get something of value and their pick. Keep in mind they don't want to extend sexton hence why he is going to free agency.
Here are some of his advanced metrics
https://craftednba.com/players/collin-sexton
as an offensive player he passes less than gary trent, shoots worse his 3pt attempt rate suggests he likes long twos even more than gtj and he ranks in the 4th percentile for turnovers vs creation for team mates.
GTJ is below:
https://craftednba.com/players/gary-trent-jr.
Collin Sexton is maybe half an inch maybe an inch taller than FVV but he is currently playing at the level of a replacement level player and is a defensive sieve. Yet you want to give up a better player, AND a pick without getting something in return.
To reset the cleveland talk GTJ to Cleveland would involve getting back possibly lavert or someone who could be useful for now yet still have their first rounder coming our way if that isn't possible then we keep it moving. Getting Okoro and Cedi works.Last edited by TrueTorontoFan; Sun May 29, 2022, 02:46 PM.

Not giving up on him becoming a good defender, but he's not going to surpass the other core guys. Becomes an issue of who do you keep when you know someone has to go.
That's just it I think he tops out as a 6th man if the team is at its best. I think that for this team we could sell "high" by trading for a similar player to him with more offensive creation in the playmaking department.
My ideal is boggy from ATL. and getting their pick
