The guy that I want to see the Raps target this year.

    Mamba Mentality

Raptors currently have the 31st pick in the draft via Detroit. I'm assuming that holds because Detroit is awful per usual.

Hopefully we have some more picks incoming with trades, but we at least have a pick that should get us a useful player.

It's fun to be able to pay attention to the draft again.

Raps had the 7th worst record in the standings when they moved up and got Scottie.

They are 7th worst as of today. Anyone good in the top 4 this year?

Here is the current top 6 mock according to ESPN.

        FIRST ROUND

        1. Isaiah Collier | USC | PG | Age: 18.9

        2. Alex Sarr | Perth Wildcats | PF/C | Age: 18.4

        3. Zaccharie Risacher | JL Bourg | SF | Age: 18.4

        4. Ja'Kobe Walter | Baylor | SG | Age: 18.7

        5. Ron Holland | G League Ignite | SF | Age: 18.2

        6. Donovan Clingan | UConn | C | Age: 19.5

You can see why this is considered a bad draft year. Collier might not even be a lotto pick most years.

You draft anyone with Kobe in his name without question then any guy named Isaiah, those are basketball names. Alternately, no one named Ron Holland will ever be an NBA star

Silly question but if you drop in the lottery (let’s say Detroit drops to 5), does their second round pick drop as well or does it go back to record?

A lot of those guys are not in the NCAA.. So might be hard to scout. But it's still early. Every draft has one or two guys that turn into all-star/all-nba types. Just finding the right guy.

Reed Sheppard is a Kentucky PG that is shooting 56% from 3, has a 75.4% TS% and has a 15.3 BPM so far this season. He's my #1 pick based on just looking at stats, and the fact that he's a Kentucky PG.

No.. the lottery is only for the first round. The second round is simply based on end of season standings.

Important context is this mock hasn't been updated since November 30th. I'd expect a ton of movement by the draft.

NBA Draft dot net has a different 1, 5, and 6 and they have Collier going 9th.

Yeah the tourney will change things too.. but I'm going to keep tracking the top 4 along with 31. We have a chance to make it even if we don't get into the "top 6". Always a chance to move up like we did in 2021.

There's also a chance we finish 6th worst and no teams move ahead of us so we pick 6th.

Really hoping we go on a run and can just focus on the 31st pick.

My guess is we end up 9th worst. And we'll be all watching the lottery to see if we move up or not from there.

I think we catch up to Chicago and Utah but ultimately that's as far as we go.

I'm just not very optimistic about the team this year. Even after the trade.

They've dug a hole for sure. Should have been able to hold onto ~.500 as it was.
