After being advised not to watch the replay, I will only note that the one guy on the team who consistently boxes out, Hansbrough, only played 13 minutes. He sat down after helping the team keep close early in the third quarter and never saw the court again. It's very uncharacteristic that he did not have a single rebound, but I noticed that several times early in the game --the part I watched--a guard beat him to the ball, which again, is the result of a good box-out on defence.
He started the game well, but struggled after, partly because he was at times in shit situations, like guarding Pierce.

Just asking, but why do you support Hansborough so much? Do you just think he's a better player than the forum believes he is in general (which I'm starting to agree with)?

I love basketball, always have. Hansbrough was an incredible player for the Tar Heels at UNC-Chapel Hill, my alma mater. He won a national championship and was national player of the year. He finished his career as the leading scorer in ACC history. He still is. So I found it amusing when, at the draft combine in 2009, no one thought he was actually as tall as was listed, could jump as high as he could, was as strong as advertised, or could shoot. So I started following his career with Indiana and now with Toronto. I watched both teams improve immediately upon his arrival, save for the injury-shortened rookie season. I watched coaches bench him and fans get on his case. And through it all, he continued to improve, continued to give everything he had, continue to contribute. He's a guy who was not blessed with the gifts a Terrence Ross was given, but still makes a big difference when he hits the court. I can identify with a player like that. He does the little things that win games, and that's something I admire.

Recently, Roy Williams gave a challenge to his 2015 Tar Heel players after the first game of the NCAA tournament. He asked each player to rate his effort on a scale of 0 to Hansbrough.

          That's the guy I support.

Yeah, when I first glanced at the box score, I was like "oh man, a lot of this must have been Hands' fault", but it really wasn't. Part of rebounding is luck, having the misses bounce your way, and they just weren't bouncing his way. Can't always trust the numbers...

Did they increase the price for ball streams ? I swear it used to be $80 for the year, now it's $100?
              Still worth it...

                      Last year was Rocky

                      This year is Rocky 2

(if anyone can photoshop Kyle for Rocky and Pierce for Apollo...feel free to)
Looks like your PS is not bad, ... well, to apply photoshop adding watermark is as easy as pie, while photoshoping Kyle for Rocky and Pierce for Apollo can be quite tricky. Sad. I hope to, , just don't have the ability.

                      • Went looking for Casey post game video but couldn't find it (I swear he made the exact same comment about Lowry/DD shooting last year).

Anyways, i didn't find what I was looking for, but didn't come up empty handed either.

Insert Paul George for Paul Pierce and it's pretty much bang on.

Did anyone else notice the parallel between this game 1 and last year's game 1 where Casey refused to go to a certain player (Fields last year/James Johnson this year) for defensive purpose on a player (Joe Johnson last year/Pierce this year) who was giving us trouble; only to go to them in Game 2 WAY late where it made all the difference...only to then refuse to go back to them for game 3 to 7?

Dwane Casey. Welp. Not sure what say.

Same old I guess. If anyone noticed, he even drew up a near-end-of-game play on the wrong side of the court again. He, again, let Paul Pierce go off as a small 4, again not bringing in his defensive specialist. Again, the offence deteriorated into isolation and tough jumpers by the guards. Again, the bigs got ignored (and in JV's case, underplayed).

None of this is new. How am I still surprised?

ouch, that hurt. after miami and charlotte i was hoping to get another monkey off our backs with a game one win. starting hansbrough was a mistake, that`s on casey. could of looked good if we won or tyler had 1 rebound at least. guessing amir or patman starts next game.

ross, lowry, demar all with horrid shooting nights. demars especially hurts with how well he has been playing.

beal played 48 minutes i saw, that is pretty crazy. wall 44 minutes.

hopefully the guys pick it up next game and get this back. still think we win the series, especially if pierce, wall and beal keep playing so many minutes. 7-10 for pierce was a good game. i really don`t want him to beat us though

People are freaking out too much. good things happened yesterday. We lost and that sucked but we played really good D overall, and D was our weak point coming in. Need to clean up the boards and we'll be fine. The offence wasn't that bad either. The team missed alot of shots, and not terrible shots either. Good to see Patterson and Vasquez knock down some shots. Lowry, Demar, Lou and Ross need to shoot better for sure, but I thought we moved the ball well and generally got decent looks. After the game, I was surprised to see how many shots Demar missed. It was a quiet off shooting night for Demar I felt. Similar to how I felt about Beal, only 6/23 with 16 points. I didn't realize he shot so poorly, it was that type of game. Wall too, 5/18 with 10 points. If we continue to do as good a job on those guys as we did yesterday, we will win this series. The Wiz were lucky we shot so poorly, and that we couldn't rebound. The only beef I got was not playing JJ in the small ball lineups. If Pierce is at the 4, then JJ should be too. Not the reason we lost, but may have helped us pull it out.

I am more encouraged by our great defence that I am discouraged by the poor shooting. We will shoot better this series, but will we continue to play great D and find a way to get some boards?

You could look at the other way--the Wiz didn't play and shoot well and still stole one on the road....

Not just the monkey, but how it played out is eerily similar. It's like twin monkeys.

Only reason I'm not terrified by this is because we are better than the Pacers by a much larger talent difference than we were with the Wizards and the Nets.

That is it. If we lose this series, we don't recover from it a franchise from a reputation standpoint for a very long time.
