Poeltl & Pascal - The 2016 Draft

The idea of swapping out Ross for Asik is a fun one - we can't afford Biyombo and Asik is at least a solid defender so having Asik as an expensive third backup C to be traded later to a team that needs him is fun.
But anyway. There's pretty much a consensus top 8 in this draft: Simmons, Ingram, Murray, Hield, Dunn, Brown, Chriss and Bender. We have the ninth pick, which is exactly where we don't want to be because #9 is the start of the third tier of this draft. (Simmons and Ingram are the first tier, the other six are the second.)
BUT: it only takes one team to reach, and then one of those six players falls to us. And somebody almost always reaches. In 2012, it was Cleveland drafting Dion Waiters #4 and us drafting Ross at 8, which is why Detroit got Andre Drummond at 9. In 2013, it was Charlotte drafting Cody Zeller fourth, which is why Nerlens Noel fell to #6. In 2015 multiple teams passed on Justise Winslow - to the point that Charlotte turned down FOUR draft picks from Boston so they could draft Frank Kaminsky instead - and everybody at the time wondered why this was happening.
So the answer of who we should draft is: whoever of the second-tier six falls to us through a twist of fate (IE when Sacramento drafts the wrong guy like they always do, or Phoenix does like they always do, or Boston reaches way too hard like they have been known to do once they can't trade the pick).

Granted this is a year ago, but watching this clears up any questions why skal didn't play too much at Kentucky. These guys are absolutely way too raw for our team.

Demographic Shift wrote: View PostI think if its a straight up offer by the notorious low baller Danny A... then Boston goes home.
Its going to have be a two high firsts a roster player with promise and a rotation player for Butler. Two way players who are yooung and on a cap friendly deal dont come around very often....Look for Danny to try to get Love out of Cleveland.

Then, he's got major upside with that giant frame. However there's also bust potential if he can't learn to move on defence.

Will also be at this draft if anyone is interested in an extra ticket pm me.
