The Raptors took a big man at 13th overall, Ed Davis out of North Carolina. If the kid can grow as fast as the last guy they took in the lotto for NC then he's going to be a home run. It was luck that he fell to the Raptors but now we can finally set our sights on the most likely needs. Hedo has demanded a trade and they're looking to move him. The small forward position is the biggest need for upgrade. When you consider that the most likely rumored destinations for Bosh (Chicago, Miami and L.A.) all would see big men going outbound to Toronto in a sign and trade scenario, then the most likely place to fill the void at small forward is via free agency.
Below is a list of possible free agent small forwards who could be had with all or some of the MLE:
- Ray Allen
- Mike Miller
- Josh Childress (R)
- Ronnie Brewer (R)
- Travis Outlaw
- Josh Howard
- Dorell Wright (R)
- Larry Hughes
- Marquis Daniels
- Matt Barnes
All have their pros and cons but all could help the team in some way. Of the list my choice would be Ronnie Brewer. I could go into detail but the following does the job very well:

In a free agent class that has many available scorers, Brewer can stake his claim as an aggressive defender on the perimeter, playing the passing lanes. He has an odd-looking shot and doesn't have long range, but is quite efficient on offense hitting at a 52 percent clip in his four-year career. He couldn't quite carry enough of the offense in Utah when injuries struck the backcourt and was sent to Memphis to trim payroll and quickly tore a hamstring and played just five games with the Grizzlies. He's not going to be a breakout star, but could be a solid rotation player for a team that wants to add some defensive bite.
