They don’t but it’s weird that the best impact player of this generation in Lebron can’t drag his team to play well like he usually does. It’s just really perplexing to me. He doesn’t seem to be declining, are his impact stats the same as they’ve been?
I’d guess it’s the rest of the league slowly catching up to the new style of play. Even the Nets can be pesky with it.

    • It's why the Magic are doing so well.... they have great floor spacing. TBH, we could have that as well but we need to use our SF/PF in pick & pops more often.... staying on the perimeter while our guards & sometimes SF's drive inward. As odd as it seems, I'd want to use OG as a screen setter more on offense due to his body type & the fact he can hit 3's. I feel a pick heavy offense would suit us wonders & I'd love to see us roll out a unit with OG & JV as the main pick men, with Miles, Lowry & Wright on the outside..... it'd also be a great defensive lineup.

Until then, opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one and they most often stink

Bad idea, because he recently had an acl injury. Too much risk for his knee, I would say.

It's still a weird roster, but the entire starting lineup is taking (and making) a lot of 3's. Vucevic leads the team in 3PM. Aaron Gordon has worked on his shot. DJ Augustin is starting for his 20th team, wtf. The only starter sucking at 3's is Terrence Ross, lol.

If guys like Vucevic and Gordon can re-invent themselves as 3-pt shooters in a short period, it makes you wonder what's up with DeMar. Is it his mechanics or something mental? Do the Raps need a shot doctor?

At least we have confirmation (in hindsight) that trading Ross was the right move. Ibaka wasn't just a 1 year rental, and Ross will likely never be worthy of the lotto pick he was selected with.

I think it's very early in the season to be proclaiming anything about 3 point shooters. It's not early for DeMar, of course, but the parade planning in Orlando is a bit early.

I know Gordon shot a lot of 3s last year (3.3 per), so it's something he's been working on for quite a while and is not bashful about.

DeMar has been working on it too, but he does have form issues and a different playstyle mentality.

"An inability to match up with bigger wings, from Joe Johnson all the way to LeBron James, has killed the Raptors in the playoffs the past few seasons. Toronto’s new starting lineup could have a similar issue. DeMar DeRozan is their primary option on offense and spends most of his energy at that end of the floor. Norman Powell, Toronto’s starting small forward, is extremely undersized for the position at 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds. Serge Ibaka is a traditional big man who is better at protecting the rim than guarding on the 3-point line. Their top two perimeter reserves are Delon Wright (6-foot-5 and 190 pounds) and C.J. Miles (6-foot-6 and 225 pounds). It’s Anunoby or nothing for Toronto."...

"You can walk on water and haters will say it's because you can't swim" when I saw that on Demar's instagram I knew he wouldn't shoot 3s lol

Seems like other teams must have better shooting coaches, seems like nobody the Raps draft develops a good 3 pt shot.

If (and that's a big if) OG continues to develop nicely, we could be in a position where he starts next year and we all of a sudden are in a position of strength on the wing where powell can be shopped as a package for the infamous "trade chips for a star"

Possibly, but who knows whether its more a function of the players in question. That said, Norm has become more of a shooter than he was credited for at the draft. Delon has gotten a lot better. So has Pascal. OG is a lot more confident in his shot than expected. And there's good reason to think this young group will find their shooting groove as they get more and more comfortable in this offence.

I will admit it's a little vexing that Bruno hasn't been molded into a deadeye shooter yet, but that's a personal bias.

                            • To be fair you can't expect our young guys, who aren't natural shooters, to shoot any better than 30-35%. Especially at this stage in their careers.

I've been around the game long enough to understand that shooting is a natural gift, outside of anomaly's like Kawhi you won't develop knock down specialists, especially on a consistent basis; only good enough shooters to keep the defense honest. We need to trade for or draft shooters.

                              • All we need is shooting good enough to keep the defence honest, from guys not named Lowry, Ibaka and Miles anyway.

Give it some time, I expect the young guys will get at least into the high-20's, low-30's, and Lowry's shooting will return to form, at which point we'd be in the mid thirties as a team.
