Toronto is a "big city". Can he make enough $$$ through endorsements to make up the $50M or whatever it was that he potentially lost by not signing the supermax with SA?

The most we know about Kawhi leaving San Antonio is that he felt like they badly mishandled his injury and that burnt the relationship.
That has nothing to do with endorsements. It's about relationships.twitter.com/anthonysmdoyle

Multiple league sources also told ESPN that the Spurs have grown worried that Leonard's group has an ulterior motive to fray the relationship and get Leonard traded to a larger market like Los Angeles (Leonard's hometown) or New York or Philadelphia (Leonard's uncle, Dennis Robertson, lives in New Jersey).
LA, NY, and even Philadelphia all have much more endorsement potential than Toronto.
Further, if it was *just* about relationships, then why would his camp have been so adamant about leaking his displeasure about to coming to Toronto? We don't have any relationship issues. Toronto is not much colder than NY or Philly.
That's not to say the endorsement issue is going to prevent him from re-signing, only that his branding is probably a factor. Especially given this:
