I didn't watch the Germany - Latvia game but I'd assume Latvia focused their defense heavily on Schroeder since he has been Germany's best player by a wide margin. Latvia seems well coached and has been punching above their weight all tournament. USA game will be interesting. Germany has some good bigs and USA is low on bigs. I suspect Dennis will rise to the occasion. Still expecting a USA win.

Canada vs Serbia USA vs Germany Definitely gearing up for the Canada vs USA gold medal game showdown, unless of course Dennis has something to say about it.
german fans hoping what he has to say will not be 9 points on 26 shots like it was against latvia

Team Canada has beaten #1 Spain, #5 France & #7 Slovenia. That's impressive. Obviously having SGA and Brooks is the biggest improvement, but Jordi's FIBA experience and in-game adjustments have also been good (other than the Brazil game).

Quotes don't seem to work on this like almost everything on this forum for me .. Are the guys running this fixing
    these issues ??

It must be said " Canada played their worst game of this tournament against Brazil " It was pure garbage and they only lost by 4 points .. SGA and Brooks are fearless and don't seem to be scared by the moment .. Seriously these guys have been add it since 1st week of August .. It does take a lot of commitment to give up that much of your summer .. Winning makes it well worth it but losing like previous years makes you say why bother and that is why after a bad experience some have never came back .

Shai is just so good. He's playing like Kawhi did for the Raptors in this tournament. 31 and 10 for the tournament MVP.
Off to the semi's now. Serbia has Bogdonovic but no Jokic. We should handle them. Would love a US/Can final. I think it's headed that way.

In the recent past Canada has not hosted many games and all their attempts to qualify for events came away from home. With the recent implementation of the new qualifying windows, this has changed a bit.
From a quick search it seems like the "Road Warriors" nickname was a Leo Rautins thing... not surprising.
Leo Rautins and his Canadian men's basketball team have dubbed themselves the “Road Warriors” for all the games they've played abroad, in another country's gym.

That's about to change as the Canadians will host Lebanon and New Zealand in a five-game exhibition series in Toronto and Hamilton, part of the team's preparations for its last-chance Olympic qualifying tournament in July.

The games mark the first time the Canadians will play on home turf in six years.

“We have no idea what it's like to play in Canada. None,” said Rautins, head coach of the senior men's squad. “I'd like our guys to actually feel like they're at home, playing at home for Canada, so all the boys can hearing the cheering and the screaming out ‘Go Canada,' something we see every where we go. We'd like to experience a little bit of that ourselves.

That's from an underdog, feeling sorry yourselves mindset and bygone era. Canada will now be the #2 favorite behind Team USA in every tournament, for the foreseeable future. And because of all the NBA players, we'll have fans cheering for us in every gym.

Underdogs, no more. Time for a nickname change.

This tournament was a perfect way for Dillon Brooks to restore his image somewhat .. After a season like last year it must be great for his mental health to experience what he has in that win over Spain ..

    We're going to the Olympics!

    Finally, 24 years later.

This is just the start. USA vs Canada will be a rivalry like it is in hockey, just USA has the edge here.

Biggest win in Canada's basketball? Well at least during when I've been paying attention. They got to the Olympics in 2000 but I don't remember how they got there. But this was a ballsy win. Down by double digits twice I believe and came back both times. RJ kept us in the game in the first. He was aggressive. Got a 3pt shot to go in off the corner. Hit both his free throws but got into early foul trouble. Actually the entire team did. Refs really were on something. Spain had two weird plays where they hit a 3 and we fouled. Got two shots in one of those cases because they were in the bonus? Why two shots and not one? In the other case, I believe it was in the 3rd quarter.. they hit a 3, and Brooks had an unsportsmanlike foul... resulting in two shots and the ball back. They got both free throws and another bucket.. 7 point swing. So dumb. Are these rules real? Anyway we fought hard defensively. NAW was really good. Dort did his usual stuff. But Brooks was really solid as well when he wasn't trying to take someone's head off. Powell was underrated. Without him we'd lose for sure. He was working hard to seal off rebounders in the second half. Got to the rim hard. Kept Willy off the boards. The MVP's were Brooks were his timely defense and timely shots. Shai for just being awesome. Ice in his veins from the free throw line. Timely passes. And again Powell for manning the paint. I thought Olynyk had a really bad game. And I think the nerves got to him. Some dumb turnovers. Bad defense. Glad we went small in the 4th. And the only guy that fouled out was RJ which is crazy considering how many guys were playing with 4 fouls. My heart did sink though when Spain shot that final 3. It front rimmed but it was a clean look. If we had gone to O/T I'm not sure we would have survived. Seeing Powell cry as he was heading to the locker room choked me up a bit. I saw the brackets. US lost so we don't have to face them until the gold. But we face Luka first. And then the winner of Lithuania and Serbia. One step at a time. Slovenia plays a lot like the Mavs. Just put Dort/Brooks on Luka and make his life hard. And we can win this.
