Banton is going to work hard because being drafted by your home squad puts pressure on you .. you either respond or fold. Typically there is no in between. Amazing.
Love this guy. Humble, straightforward, talented, grateful for the opportunity and seems to be in the 99th percentile of guys who won't screw it up.
A great watch.
When his family members started talking near the end, you can see that so many people are pulling for him and are in his corner. Love this kid, love that pick!
Right after it aired, kid drops 30 in a G-League game?!? Future is bright!!!
The early development of Banton is the most screwed up and crooked way to start under Nick Nurse
TD3 and Matt Thomas are now saying…â€we’ve been there and done that shitâ€
Nurse cannot figure out what to do…win games by playing Van Vleet 38-40 minutes a night, although lately seem to be a meaningless goal
or
Allow Banton to get consistent minutes, have him find his comfort zone as a rookie
He is trying to divide the meer 15 minutes between Banton and Flynn because Van Vleet has to hoist Hail Marys to achieve meaningless wins
We should really be playing Banton and Flynn beside each other to give Fred rest, and always with Pascal on the floor. Gives them both plenty of ball handling support, a primary to play off, and Flynn provides Banton some floor spreading while Banton helps cover for Flynn's physical limitations defensively.
The only position with depth in this line up is the Point Guard position
Van Vleet (38.8 mpg/ 14 games) - highest minutes in the league
Banton (12.6 mpg/ 15 games)
Flynn (4.6 mpg/ 9 games)
Dragic (18.0 mpg/ 5 games)
even Barnes can be a point guard
However….Banton should average at least 15 mpg “consistently†and Flynn at least 7-8 minutes “consistently†to allow Van Vleet to maximize his energy in the fourth quarter where he thrives most. Van Vleet at 33 mpg is so ideal. Maintain his health and not deplete his value long term.
Even Steph Curry only average 33 minutes per game with the greatest impact

Yea i would like to see this as well. But if Nick is set on only having time for 1 of them and keep FVV minutes high then i would like to see a game to game approach.. Id rather see either Flynn or Banton get 15-20 minutes rather then 8 each. Let them have a competition game to game for maybe the next 10 to see who gets that spot. Then send the other to the G-League more often for development.. Banton came out hot but seem now that teams have tape on him they know he cant shoot and will sag off.. He cant get that head down attack as much anymore.. Still can be a beast in transition, but Flynn is the better half court option.
Im of the state of mind that its better for a player to know they are going to get consistent minutes in both halves of the game and can play more open.. Giving Banton the first shot then if he makes a mistake or 2 pivoting to flynn in the second is not good for either players performance.. Nick has been guilty of this in the past too but i think he should reconsider how he platoons those 2.
