  • In regards to the poll, if Murray slides it's a no brainer.

    • If Murray falls to 9 it's a complete no brainer. You cannot pass on talent like that if it falls into your lap.

I'm flexible with my definition of BPA, but passing on Murray is too much.

I don't think Murray will be there so I picked Skal, just seems like a Masai pick to the max.
This does not sound like a Masai player...

Labissiere's lack of strength is an issue, but so is his lack of toughness. He is a little bit too nice for his own good at times, as he tends to get pushed around in the post frequently and doesn't always fight back the way you might hope,

Agree. Can't pass on someone so talented. With the exception of Powell last draft, Masai has yet to draft the BPA. Also, if he had the opportunity to draft Murray and passed on it, the optics of it would be awful.

            • I think you go with Davis if Chriss isn't available. I'm not sold on Skal.

I'd probably lean to Davis rather than Skal too at this point, though I wouldn't be upset with either.

Of course the ideal is Murray slips and we get Thon at 27.

That doesn't mean he isn't draft his own BPA. The draft is a crap shoot, there is no definitive list of player rankings prior to them being in the like for like five years. Hindsight is worthless.

The best players are typically the ones where optimal talent meets desire and opportunity. That's tough to forecast.

I'm thinking length, athleticism, the ability to play and defend multiple positions. We've seen Masai target guys like Bruno, Antetokounmpo and the like in previous drafts.

He's also taken guys like Powell and Faried. Guys who may not have much versatility and don't have spectacular length.

Honestly don't think there's that specific a hierarchy of criteria for him.

I've got a feeling if nobody falls to us we gotta go with Sabonis
I also like Sabonis as a contingency pick. I'm not high on Ellenson. Sabonis has the tools and bloodline to be a really good player in the NBA. Length and athleticism are issues, sure, but I think he's got one of the higher bball IQ's of the big men in this draft.

                          • Quick question:
Would anyone take Baldwin with the 9th? That way can either let Lowry play out what will most likely be the last year of his contract or try to flip him for a PF and let Baldwin develop behind CoJo?..

Baldwin's really grown on me, solid size for a PG (6'4",202lb) , good length (6'11" wingspan), and solid athleticism (from a stand still at the corner 3 it takes him 2 steps to throw it down). Naturally his length and athleticism will give him a good chance at being a good defender at the point in the NBA, and has a workable jump shot. Seems like a good character too.

                            Thoughts?

(For whatever reason won't let me share embedded)

Well the Raps do have Delon as well... unless you dont think Delon will develop into a solid PG... but at this point the Raps really need the help at the 4 and maybe even 5 if they cant keep Biz as a backup, so I think thats where the Raps focus on in the draft unless a trade happens...

No I do think Delon will be a very solid player, but I also think Baldwin has more "star potential" than Wright with his combination of size and athelticism.
I understand they need help at the 4 and are also looking to retain Biz, so my line of thinking was moving Lowry and even Ross maybe (I think Norm can absorb all of his minutes no problem) can net you a very solid PF while also opening up some cap space possibly?
