Here's a question: would you rather have something you want and keep the stuff you have (and want), or would you prefer to get the thing you want but lose some of the stuff you have (and want)?
Cause he had no need to whatsoever -- exhibited by the fact he got him without doing one.
That is your assumption, after the fact.
Kawhi wanted to come home to either the Lakers or the Clippers.
Why not sign him and deal him to those two teams, instead of desperately hoping that he stays.
The key to all that was Masai accepting that Kawhi is leaving. With that in mind, it would have been easier to do the moves.
He had the ace in his hand, all along.

Are you trying to trick my failing brain here? Lol

But you can't sign Kawhi without Kawhi agreeing to sign and Kawhi had no interest in signing with us. What exactly are you thinking the Raptors could do?

Kawhi hates the Raptors so much that he wouldn't agree to a sign and trade to either of the two LA teams?

In theory, becuase he wanted to play with a stronger team than LA or the Clips would have had sending players back to Toronto in a sign and trade....and Kawhi didn't care if he got absolutely the most money/term so he could sign where he wanted without weakening their team in the process.

This is a very straightforward answer from Denaer and very much agree….I don’t know why DanH would want to engage Kag in DanH own mental calisthenics lol.
Kawhi just does not want to deplete the roster of one of the LA Teams, the Clippers. He wanted the team of his destination to be ultra competitive, losing a number of players going the Raptors way does not help his final objective. So moot point to consider the sign and trade option with the Raps.
If they again fail this season to win a Championship they never will. The Clippers franchise are historically always the doormat of the NBA and will always remain that way. Outside of the most loyal Clippers fans like Mr. Billy Crystal, Hollywood don’t give a shit to that team, Kawhi’s New Balance and the infantile juiced enthusiasm of Ballmer.
The surrounding area of Inglewood where they are building their own arena, Intuit Dome as they plan to call it is still a dump especially during the NFL offseason…. the former executive of Microsoft, billionaire owner is a single pork rind away to an Angioplasty or Coronary Bypass surgery with his over the top celebration of a made shot in the second quarter of a 48 minute game. Him and his minion Lawrence Frank and Uncle Dennis Richardson don’t deserve a ring. Kawhi to an extent as well.
You guys it's simple. Kawhi didn't want to play for the clippers, he wanted to play with Paul George uncle Dennis tried to get us to trade fred Pascal and OG for him. Kawhi would never do the sign and trade because he needed the clips to trade for PG with the assets masai would have request for him.
