Call me crazy but I would be OK with that.

It's not Herro. If it was Herro as the additional asset being sent by Miami it would be much, much easier to find a third team, because despite Herro shitting the bed this past playoffs, he's still in high demand around the league. Or we'd just eat Dragic' contract as the cost for getting Herro. Either way.
For the salaries to work for the Mavs to take Dragic, they need to send out $14.44 million so they can take in Dragic's contract. Dwight Powell is $11 million, so the Mavs need to add $3.44 million to make the trade work. They're not going to send out Maxi Kleber, Dorian Finney-Smith or Jalen Brunson - those are all decent bench guys on good contracts. They can't trade Moses Brown because they just got him.
So that leaves Willie Cauley-Stein (4.2m), Trey Burke (3.3m), Josh Green (2.9m) and Tyrell Terry (1.5m). Dallas doesn't want to trade WCS because it'll leave them light in the frontcourt with Powell leaving, and the Raptors probably don't want him that much either. The Raps don't want Trey Burke because he's not expensive but also not very good, and he has salary on the books for the next two seasons. The Raps like Green and Terry - but so does Dallas.
Dallas probably wants to send Powell and Burke plus one of Green or Terry; the Raps probably want Powell, Green and Terry. Those are the only ways to make the money work. The negotiations at this point are probably Dallas trying to send Burke and Toronto either saying "no" or demanding additional draft compensation from either Dallas or Miami.

lol. It's not me he has to be worried about. Mrs. Burke, er. mrs. golden is definitely not happy right now. And the last time somebody dis-respected Trey (aka, Iverson 2.0), future HoF coach Rick Carlisle got run out of town. Coincidence? I think not.
That said... why TF are we being negotiating pussies and bending over backwards (or forwards) for Pat Riley & Lowry so we can give him both money AND choice of team? I mean, Precious is a nice project, but c'mon. If Riley wants to keep both Duncan Robinson and Lowry at 30M/year, then he's gotta pay up. Or Lowry and Robinson have to take haircuts to stay in Miami. Something's gotta give.... why are we in scramble mode to free up cap-space with our hands tied at a critical time when chess pieces have already been moved around the NBA board?
Lowry had 7 or 8 teams interested in him. He was the #1 FA on the board this off-season. Let's say the Raps didn't like any of the Heat S&T options... then Lowry has 3 choices: (a) sign with the Heat for cheap, (b) sign with a different team into available cap-space, (c) S&T to a team with better assets than the Heat... who have no picks or exciting young players (unless you really like Herro.... I don't).
In scenarios (a) & (b), we get cap-space early in the FA process. That's a win.
In scenario (c) we open up the field of S&T assets from other teams... like draft picks (which the Heat don't have).
Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but Lowry's agent is Mark Barthelstein and the Raps just did him a solid by signing Turkish league superstar and MAGA icon, Sam Dekker. Why are we being so nice to Mark Barthelstein?
Adding to that conspiracy theory.....y'all remember that Masai bought a luxury home in Miami last year? There was another franchise icon who bought a luxury home in a warm US destination..... And even before last season, I predicted that BOTH Lowry and Masai would end up in Miami at some point. Not saying something fishy is going on here, but we had (and should still have) leverage over the Heat and we're using our 'precious' cap-space to play footsie with them, while deals are going down.
Rant over.... I'm still expecting a great outcome. Maybe it's all positioning to acquire pieces for Turner? #BelieveInMasai

If a team offers a comparable player to Lowry (leader, 6 time All-star) for a 2nd round pick, Flynn and Hood (okay Dragic is a better player but we have no other bad contracts), you would think we fleeced the other team.
Trying to be patient for the end result...

Well said, basically what we are all feeling. I know you generally get less in S&T’s but we are being thoroughly bent over. Timing wise and asset wise. We are basically helping the team they want but we have to sit, wait, and try to move their apparently undesirable contract... that they picked up 2 days ago.
Raptor fans head into each off-season with so much hope and anticipation. But off-seasons have been pretty rough lately, starting 2 weeks after we won the chip. Sold our soul for the gold ball and have to pay up, I suppose.

We would basically have Collins, Barnes, Precious, OG, Siakam and maybe Birch.
If they could develop Barnes to be a PG, then I think we could get enough playing time for everyone. OG can play the 2, and I think so could Pascal. It would be a big lineup.
I’m sure Flynn and Trent would be unhappy with their roles.
