Doug Smith as usual tried un-successfully to defend Casey's decision, but Cox wasn't buying it. Damien Cox knows jack-shit about basketball, but even he could sniff out a bad strategy when he sees one.

The thing is the players know the questionable sets and play calls from the bench reflect poorly on them.
There's no way that DD or KLOW demand then walk up the ball or start in the backcourt with 3 seconds left. They are put in these situations and they have had enough of using every last fiber of strength to execute these plays only to be considered ball hogs and choke artists.
I get that many teams in the final minutes of tight games revert their offense to ISOs or small action to get a switch for their shot maker on a mismatch but for the last month its been that way for larger and larger swaths of the 4th quarter.
Casey was a stabilizing force and a solid if inflexible coach but at some point management and/or the coaching staff need to realize that we've stabilized. The foundation has set. It's clearly time to start buidling on it.

I find it curious that really the only 2 guys saying lowrys comments aren't about Casey but rather about how we have crappy role players and need more talent are the 2 spin doctors of the dwane n demar dynasty..or maybe it's not curious at allLast edited by KeonClark; Mon Feb 13, 2017, 12:28 PM.9 time first team all-RR, First Ballot Hall of Forum

And too many of the role players (Joseph (general crapiness), Patterson (injury), Ross (inconsistency), Carroll (inconsistency, injury(?)), JV (inconsistency)) haven't performed up to expectations. In the same way that you accuse those people of reflexively defending Casey, there are a lot of people on here who reflexively blame Casey. Neither approach is accurate....9 time first team all-RR, First Ballot Hall of Forum

Agreed that the offense became a Lowry/DD centric game in the 4th qtr...see Carroll's quote for inside confirmation! But no one mentioned the terrific play of Ish Smith on the Pistons. He torched the Raptors defense (?). Kudos to Gundy for sitting down his starting pg Reggie J. This is a weakness consistently exploited by opposing teams...Lowry is too gassed end of games to be effective defensively. The team has flaws and it is too easy to flog on Casey...who isn't the sharpest tool in the drawer anyway. He has faults but the team itself has too.
Last year's foray into the ECF may well have been an aberration. We got lucky I believe considering the slog thru to that series.

But the question is not what is wrong with the team - the discussion is about what Lowry was talking about last night. And he was very clearly talking about Casey/playcalling/rotations. DeMar talked about getting "help," but he was prompted once again by the media on that answer.
