  • Gasol seems like the perfect kind of guy that returns to Europe and signs with a playoff contender before the deadline.

Great guy to have in some situations and let him ride the bench in others if the match-up doesn't suit.

It felt a lot like Dipo hit his peak that season, which now feels like ages ago. He had an extended bonus rest this year and still looked meh.

And a lot of young guys have surpassed him. We weren't talking about Doncic, Booker, Murray, Jokic, Bam and Siakam & Tatum being better than Dipo back then, were we? Is Dipo even top 30 anymore?
That's true, but that injury was brutal. He probably needs some more time on the court in real games to get comfortable.

sign Jerami Grant. Not overreaction or anything
A guy like that would help on any team's wing but he's also just Diet OG.

        • MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Timberwolves guard Malik Beasley was in jail Sunday on charges of drug possession and receiving and concealing stolen property, after his arrest the night before.

The Athletic first reported Beasley’s arrest Saturday night at his home in Plymouth, a suburb of Minneapolis. ESPN reported that police obtained a search warrant for Beasley’s home after a complaint that he brandished a weapon at a person and officers found marijuana and guns in the home.

“We’re aware of the situation involving Malik and in the process of gathering more information,” Timberwolves coach Ryan Saunders said.

Beasley participated in voluntary workouts at the team facility earlier this year. He has not taken part in group workouts that began this week for teams that didn’t qualify for the NBA’s restart in Florida after the four-plus-month pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 23-year-old Beasley will be a restricted free agent when the season ends. The 19th overall pick in the 2016 draft by Denver, Beasley averaged 20.7 points in 14 games for Minnesota after being acquired in a trade with the Nuggets in February.

                • Have to wait until the details. Weapons are a concern for ownership for sure. They usually don't sign headcases.
If it's weed and a legal weapon for security or target practice, all good.
If it's a ton of weed for trafficing, other drugs, illegal weapon ...

                      • Anybody else like Myles Turner? If there are any cap gymnastics to get him on the squad while preserving space for a run at Giannis, I would maybe take a crack at him. (He is reported as being potentially available.)

                        Pros:
                        -elite shot blocker
                        -7th in DRPM among centres
-career 36% three point shooter (34% last year on 4 attempts per game)
                        -still only 24

                        Cons:
                        -not a great rebounder
-lacks aggressiveness; tends to stand around on offense
-$18mm a year would make us have to choose between some of our homegrown options
                        -how to match salaries

Great if you're a runway model, not so great if doesn't lead to measurable advantages on the court.

Basically we can fit him if we don't keep Fred. If Fred walks, we could not quite fit Turner into our cap space, but a Powell for Turner deal would work (unless we plan on using Player Rights to re-sign Gasol or Ibaka, which I wouldn't think so if we get Turner).

Question is how easily Indy moves him. They are in some financial trouble with their roster up close to the tax as is, so might be interested in shedding some salary, but I'm not sure how low that gets his trade value. Would Powell and a 2021 1st be enough? If not, tough to see how the Raptors get him. Fred sign and trades are difficult for salary matching (I almost got a Fred and Powell (plus picks) deal for Dipo and Turner to work, but it doesn't quite get there and Indy won't want to take on salary). No way I give up OG or Pascal. And they need the useful cheap depth in TD and Thomas.
