Right. After literally a half decade or more of sticking to the same guys, re-signing them when a lot of people thought they shouldn't, trading 1sts to improve that core, and waiting until there was a superstar upgrade available, not selling pieces off for futures.

The Kyle/DeMar/JV core improved like clockwork... every single year... to eventually a 59 win team. There was a reason to stick with them.

The Fred/Pascal/OG core has missed the playoffs 2 out of the last 3 seasons. Is there a compelling reason to stick with them... other than hope and loyalty?

I wonder if he views it like in two years the cap will have risen and he can get another two or 3 year deal at around $25M - $30M per year? Would be maximizing the window he can get paid.

At this point I would be surprised if Fred's back. Seems like 80/20 he's going elsewhere for more $. Usually when there is this much smoke with a pending FA they don't stay on there original team.
