Lol imagine trying to pitch demar to come off the bench after we shipped him out and won a chip the following year without him. Demar will not play for the raptors unless its 5+ years from now. Let it go

The Lakers are in a class of their own..
Another beauty..... is this one ..
Why would the Lakers ask Magic to help recruit as part of the organization after he quit on them ?
They are unique in their approaches

Problem is that Magic per the rules of the NBA can't meet with Leonard.

This whole Magic thing is fucking stupid. Why does Kawhi care what Magic thinks anyway? Magic quit the team because ownership down is a shit show, that's the narrative. So now he want to help the Lakers break the NBA rules to recruit Kawhi to a team who's being led by a guy he says stabbed him in the back? I'm almost out of fuel for this offseason and it's not really even begun yet.

Never mind the fit.. how about his price point? His current contract was as option 1 on the Raps (and I think the Spurs too).
All this being said obviously what really matters is Kawhi coming back and that's it. So Kawhi, pleeeeasee don't walk away from a great thing :'(

My (wild) take..
LAKERS has always been Kawhi's dream team.
Reason he wanted his people to meet with Magic and ' his friend' Jeanie is because Kawhi want them be assured of this,
Kawhi has his sights on the Lakers,
In 1 or 2 years, after collecting 1 or 2 more chips for TO.
There's no way the Lakers wins the championship next season,
BUT they have a really big chance in 2 years.
Lebron will be 36 by then, perfect time for Kawhi to take the reins.
Kawhi will be the first NBA player to win 3 Finals MVPs for 3 different teams.

The plan with that would be either see if he opts out of his 2020 option, or wait until 2021 just before free agency, and grab him in the buyout market! So we won't have to pay him all that cash, we'll just start with one postseason and then see what he might agree to afterwards. Also if Kawhi does leave... We will need a replacement number one or two option... Maybe Nick Nurse can fix his three point shot?!

This is kinda wild.
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...31-focus-faith
Darren Collison retiring from the NBA at 31 years old to focus on his faith. (He's Jehovah's Witness.)
"He's one of 26 players in NBA history to average at least 10 points and 3.5 assists per game in each of his first 10 seasons."
Could've been a useful piece for Indy or another suitor for a while yet. Could've made a LOT more money.
Choosing to focus on humanitarian work instead.
We honour you Darren Collison, with a 21 bee salute. (I always loved the placeholder gif for him in game threads.)

Easy to despise .. doubly so with Johnson and the ESPN pamphleteering squad out of Bristol building stories up as the NBA inches its way to June 30. .
This from the LA Times is a bit of a classic as well.
The Leonard camp... has somehow not discovered that Magic is longer an employee of the LA Lakers.. Yeah.. they must have missed that. If this doesn't net the Lakers another tampering charge I am not sure what will. The Clips and Knicks and whomever else are looking to meet are as pissed as the Raps should be. This sounds more like the Lakers trying to steal a little of the limelight from their crosstown rivals....but its the NBA... you never know.
Johnson said Leonard’s camp reached out to him and requested that the Lakers legend be part of the meeting Leonard will have with the team after the All-Star forward becomes an unrestricted free agent Sunday. However, Johnson said he should meet with Leonard privately, one on one, and not with Lakers officials to avoid any appearance of impropriety since he’s not authorized to negotiate a contract.
