If we pick him than there must be intangibles you can't get from box scores. But looking at those stats he just screams bust.

The more I keep looking at this years draft I feel we will get a guard for sure. Probably means we select a forward.
Smith, George, Hood-Shifino, Bufkin, Wallace, anyone of these guys I could see a fit on our roster with.Twitter @WJ_FINDLAY

i am going to give some thoughts on this draft thing…
raptors need a shooting guard, not a combo guard a shooting guard. there are 2 types of shootibg guards, scorers and pure off the ball shooters. we need a pure off the ball shooter. why? i would think these is a no brainer but if you look at our roster you can see we have in the paint guys. there are 2 models pistons larry brown or pacers reggie miller teams. 1 super elite off the ball guys that is a gravity well….or golden state. curry/klay model… 2 off the ball shooters. with out current roster if fred walks and gary doesnt cone back. also if OG is traded which i think is a must having players that dont want to be here is a recipe for disaster….

i have study this game for over 30 years. i know what i am talking about. and if you disagree bring more than stats. that is for children who dont know the game and know nothing about pairing weaknesses and strengthens together. when i was younger i would take all the cast offs and the guys who could only win with super teams could never beat me. and you know what the secret is?!?! specialist paired with just enough of the other skills on defence to have 1 unit

Close this thread down...we know who we should be taking, debate done... Thanks Grinder
This team needs more talent...period...and who ever we get, at what ever position we draft needs to be able to shoot. Right now, George, Bufkin, and Hawkins are the players I like most that are within our range. I think you should do a deep Jett, there's a reason why he is sliding in the draft boards.

After Portland (3rd pick), Dallas (10th pick) is probably the next ream that is most desperate to win now and might be willing to trade their pick. Only 3 spots up from us, but if Raps really like a guy like Cason Wallace for example and start shifting towards building for the future (likely not) then Dallas may make for a good trade partner. Especially with OKC picking right before us
In a pick swap scenario, what else could OG get us from Dallas that we might want?

Josh Green is an interesting prospect they have, him and Kleber or Bullock would do for salary matching (I think they'll want to operate over the cap and keep their FAs).

grindhouse wrote: View Postyour options are brandon milller, gradey dick, jett howard and jordan hawkins. no other name should be discussed if you trying to win a championship and build a team. when we move OG gradey dick is a perfect 3/2. and the other shooting guard spot can be miller, jett or hawkins

Why are so many people obsessed with trading a young, vet who was the only person on the team who shot above average from 3? AND is the first Rap to be All Defense in a very long time? Isn't OG the type of player they should try to keep/ try to get? You know, get younger? With shooting and defense at more positions? You don't trade OG for the chance to draft players that bring less to the table. You keep guys like him and try to find more, at more positions.
If you don’t think Scottie is that guy, then do you go full Hinkie and trade vets for prospects, picks & cap flexibility until you find that legit dude, and then start building from there?
Or do you lock up OG long term in what will no longer be a value contract and hope you have assets that teams actually want, to trade for a legit superstar?
Or do you just wait in the weeds until SGA and Murray become free agents in 4 years and decide to team up here?
Or, do you continue rolling with a treadmill team and point to Miami as justification for mediocrity?

It depends on the team building philosophies and timelines to contend.

Especially not when you have old guys that don't fit with Scottie in Pascal and Fred. Any youth movement starts with those 2 way way way before you even think about OG.
OG on a market value contract is still someone you want on a young team. The salary has to go somewhere and an all defense player who hits 3s and is only 26 is a guy you keep.
